Sudden Impact Louisiana

Sudden Impact Louisiana Sudden Impact provides testimony to the ramifications of driving while impaired from a medical, law enforcement, and victim perspective.

The Sudden Impact Program developed by UMC, is designed to prevent fatalities and injuries from driving impaired, texting while driving and lack of seat belt usage. The 7 hour program for high school sophomores, located at numerous hospitals across Southeastern Louisiana, places the teens in an unfamiliar environment while providing education on laws, decisions, communication and impairment.

That number is close to the number the Superdome holds. That’s rough! What can you do to lower this number? Answer: provide double or triple the number of driving hours while coaching your teen. Experience does not mean you are in the car. It means you are instructing the teen on the correct driving methods. Louisiana Highway Safety Commission University Medical Center New Orleans

Traffic crashes are a leading cause of death for teens 15-18 years old❗

Parents — with summer right around the corner, now's the time to make sure your teen is following the rules of the road:
🔴 Buckle up
⚫ Follow the speed limit
🔴 Limit passengers
⚫ Don't drive drowsy

Thank you to attorneys Sal Brocato, Jessica Raines, and David Bravo for your continued dedication and the time you invest in the Sudden Impact Mock Trial. Your efforts provide an impactful, real-world perspective that reinforces the serious legal and human consequences of high-risk driving behaviors. The realism and professionalism you bring to the courtroom setting are critical to the program’s success and long-term influence on student decision-making. John Curtis Christian School students witnessed how a single poor decision behind the wheel can alter the lives of individuals, families, and entire communities.

As summer approaches—a time associated with increased teen driving risks—we encourage all participants to apply what they have learned: consistently wear a seat belt, choose a sober driver, and eliminate distractions while driving. These simple actions are proven to save lives and prevent tragedies. Louisiana Highway Safety Commission University Medical Center New Orleans Louisiana State Police
