We are excited to welcome Demetrius Preatto to the MPower community.
Demetrius brings a deep commitment to New Orleans, its students and families. We’re excited for the perspective, experience, and energy he’ll bring to this brotherhood of Black male educational leaders.

And the timing couldn’t be better. MPower is officially underway.

Last night, we brought the full cohort together for our Kickoff, and the energy in the room was incredible. Leaders connected, shared, laughed, and began building the community and brotherhood that will anchor this experience throughout the year.

Next stop: our first retreat in September, where we’ll bring this brotherhood together in person and continue building from there.

We are excited to welcome Jeremiah Johnson to the MPower community.

Jeremiah’s commitment to students, families, and fellow educators is reflected in the way he leads with integrity, serves with purpose, and creates equitable opportunities for every young person to thrive. As Director of Student Support at KIPP DC Public Charter Schools and a mentor to young men in his church community, he embodies the kind of leadership that extends far beyond the walls of a school.

This cohort is forming with intention, and it’s going to be a strong one. Only a few days until we officially kick off.

We’re excited to welcome Byron Whitten to the MPower community through our continued partnership with Algiers Charter Schools Association.

Byron is one of the most dynamic educators in his building. We’ve had the opportunity to see him teach and lead firsthand, and what stands out immediately is his ability to engage, inspire, and connect with those around him. There is a level of enthusiasm, belief, and positive energy that follows him into every space he enters.

What excites us most is Byron’s deep commitment to growth. He is constantly seeking ways to sharpen his craft, elevate his leadership, and create even greater outcomes for the students and community he serves.

That combination of talent, humility, and a relentless desire to get better is exactly what makes him such a strong addition to this community.

We are honored to be part of his leadership journey and look forward to watching him continue to grow, lead, and elevate.
