I will meet/talk with children with their parents, adults, or caregivers and address concerns towards Aspergers, autism, PDD, OCD, ADD, Tourette's and to a certain degree dyslexics struggling with math etc. I think in numbers, pictures and patterns and often can help visual thinkers with their capacity issues and have developed strategies to assist in what I simply call "brane work." If a child ca
n describe to me what they see, it is very helpful and, if not, I can often deduce what they are seeing. I see emotion and communication in things that you, she, he, or they may not. Rumor has it I have a toe or two in Aspie camp, and those are my favorite toes. I also have an Asperger son and another very right brained son. Examples of issues affecting visual thinkers: impact of obsessive thinking or compulsive behaviors and the fears that drive them, attention/focus vs. interest, socialization concerns, the deep need for logic based reasoning, literalness, the impact of societal and educational preferences for (left brained) linear and sequential thinking. Or, learning how to believe that thinking outside the box is a gift not a curse. Organizational skills for said types too. Suggestions for teachers, special ed, IEPs, etc. Brain breaks associated with hitting cognitve limitiations/impasses when you are a visual thinker. And the subsequent things that materialize when maxed out; digestive (gut/allergies) and or central nervous system stuff (OCD, anxiety, sadness, depression). And the ability or inability to compartmentalize. Or we can just discuss what the struggle is and see if I think I can make a contribution. Consultations live or via phone Fridays, Saturdays, and eves on occasion. Special interests, right brained athletes, visual girls, and issues of extreme emotion, fear, and or defiance.
