Ever sit on a win for years because it didn’t feel “big enough”?

I won a Canva design challenge three years ago today 🎉…and never shared it.

At the time, I had built my portfolio using Canva’s website tool and entered on a whim. I didn’t expect to win, but I did. 🥹

I was SO excited! But I told myself they would feature it publicly, as they usually did. When that didn’t happen, I stayed quiet.

Looking back, that was imposter syndrome.

It made me believe the win didn’t “count” the same way others did.

I’d watch others share their amazing wins and told myself that mine didn’t measure up...😕

But it did.

That moment was proof (from Canva no less!) I was on the right path. It pushed me to lean further into my creativity and grow from a Virtual Assistant with one client into a Creative VA specializing in Canva design.

Now, I’m developing new offers for coaches and course creators who want polished, on-brand visuals, without spending hours in Canva themselves.

Being that I have a virtual business 💻, it’s extremely rare I go on location to assist with my client’s business ventures. But I was happy to help my client Foam Cycle, LLC last week at the NJ Summit not only with their marketing materials, but sharing how it is indeed possible to recycle foam packaging and food service foam (aka Styrofoam).

I even got to go on location to see a system in action! ♻️ Plus hanging out with our mascot Buster Foam was a fun bonus! 💪🏻

I’m an extravert at heart (although a bit of an introvert in business)…so it was refreshing to get out from behind the computer and engage with live people!

Have you ever done anything for a client that was typically out-of-scope, but knew that it would help push them forward with their business growth? 🌱

If I can support my clients along with supporting the environment, it’s a win/win 🌎💃🏻

The business card reflection 📇

I’m going to attend my first networking event with Hudson Valley Women in Business this evening, where I will help greet members at the door. The last one was literally the Monday before the pandemic hit 😷 A lot of life has happened to all of us since then.

But if I was going to attend this event, my business cards needed to reflect where I currently was on my journey 💫

I started my VA business in 2011 so that I could raise my young daughter as a single parent...so I always considered myself an “accidental-preneur”. As a result, I would question if I had what it takes to continue to make this work.

My first biz card was born around 2013 (pic 2) when I “Created Time for Entrepreneurs”. Combining my background in marketing and administrative assistance, this direction felt good.

Biz card #2 (pic 3) is where I narrowed my focus a bit, needed a fresh pic and name change ❤️

Since 2020, I have entered a brand new decade, officially joined the , and found my niche in content marketing design (and creating this design myself 😄).

Reflection allowed me to see that I was indeed successful since I was able to be there for my daughter (who is now a freshman at my alma mater SUNY New Paltz) while assisting some amazing clients along the way 🫶

So I will go to this event not as a woman who questions this journey, but as a woman who is one step closer to her authentic self. 🥰
