Our Badlands & Black Hills travelers are making their way home today after a great week exploring western South Dakota and Wyoming.

Over the past several days, the group experienced Badlands National Park, Custer State Park, Needles Highway by jeep, Deadwood, Devils Tower, and both daytime and evening visits to Mount Rushmore.

A big thank you to our travelers for joining us on another adventure, and to Mitch for safely guiding us through the Black Hills and beyond.

Here are a few more photos from the second half of the tour. We hope you enjoy them as much as our travelers enjoyed experiencing them!

Italy, through the eyes of our travelers. 🇮🇹

From the shores of Lake Como to the historic streets of Florence, our group continues to experience the beauty, culture, and charm that make Italy one of the world's most beloved destinations.

Sometimes the best way to tell the story is through the photos.

Enjoy a few more moments from the journey!

The Badlands. Towering granite spires. Winding roads through Custer State Park. Herds of bison roaming the prairie. Endless horizons that seem to stretch forever.

Over the past few days, our travelers have experienced some of the most breathtaking scenery in the American West. They explored the dramatic landscapes of Badlands National Park, ventured through Custer State Park, and even climbed aboard open-air jeeps to experience the twists, turns, and incredible views of Needles Highway from a whole new perspective.

Today the adventure continues with visits to historic Deadwood and the iconic Devils Tower. Tomorrow, they'll experience one of America's most recognizable landmarks with both a daytime and evening visit to Mount Rushmore.

Adding to the experience is Mitch, our driver from Colorado, who knows these western roads well and helps bring an extra local perspective to the journey. There's something special about exploring the West with people who call it home.

What makes this region so memorable isn't just the scenery. It's the feeling of standing in a place where nature, history, and the spirit of the American West all come together.

These are the kinds of places that stay with you long after you return home. 🇺🇸

Italy continues to impress our travelers.

After spending the last two days soaking in the beauty of Lake Como, our group is now making its way to Florence, where history, art, and architecture come together around every corner.

Tomorrow they'll stroll through the city's historic streets with our local guide Gabriel, whose stories and insights help transform famous landmarks into unforgettable experiences. From the towering Duomo to Michelangelo's David at the Galleria dell'Accademia, Florence is a city that seems to reveal something new with every step.

One of the things we love most about Italy is that it's not just about seeing incredible places—it's understanding the stories behind them. That's where guides like Gabriel make all the difference.

Stay tuned as our Italian adventure continues! 🇮🇹

🏰 History Spotlight: The Alhambra Palace

Perched high above the city of Granada sits one of the most remarkable palaces in the world: the Alhambra.

Built primarily during the 13th and 14th centuries by the Nasrid rulers of Moorish Spain, the Alhambra served as both a royal palace and a fortress. At a time when much of Europe was emerging from the Middle Ages, the Alhambra featured sophisticated irrigation systems, intricate geometric designs, peaceful courtyards, and stunning architecture that still amazes visitors today.

One of the most fascinating facts? The Alhambra was the last stronghold of Muslim rule in Spain. In 1492, the same year Christopher Columbus sailed for the New World, Granada fell to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, bringing nearly 800 years of Moorish influence in Spain to an end.

Today, more than 500 years later, visitors still walk through the same halls, courtyards, and gardens that once housed kings, queens, diplomats, and scholars.

It's not just a palace. It's a place where some of the most important chapters of Spanish and world history unfolded.

We'll be experiencing the Alhambra firsthand on our Spain Staycation tour in April 2027.

Imagine waking up each morning to the gentle movement of the river… opening your curtains to vineyards, medieval villages, and the French countryside slowly drifting by.

That’s part of what makes river cruising through France feel so different.

There’s no rushing from hotel to hotel. No constantly packing and unpacking. Instead, the journey itself becomes part of the experience.

Spend your afternoons sipping wine on the sun deck as the Rhône winds through Southern France. Wander charming villages filled with cafés and markets. Enjoy incredible French cuisine onboard and ashore. Then return each evening to the comfort of your floating boutique hotel.

Our Heart of France featuring a Rhône River Cruise also includes time along the French Riviera in Nice and concludes with two nights in Paris, creating a wonderful blend of relaxation, scenery, culture, and unforgettable experiences.

This is the kind of trip where you slow down a little… and truly soak in where you are.

If France has been on your bucket list, this may be one of the most enjoyable ways to experience it.

Travel Tip

One of the biggest mistakes travelers make?

Trying to see everything...

Some of the best travel memories happen when you slow down a little.

Instead of rushing from place to place trying to check every box, give yourself time to:
• Sit at the café
• Take in the scenery
• Wander the local shops
• Talk with locals
• Enjoy the atmosphere

That’s one reason we try to balance guided touring with free time on many of our itineraries. Travel should feel like an experience… not a race.

What’s your favorite “slow travel” moment you’ve had on a trip?

People often see the finished product of a tour… the beautiful scenery, great meals, and memorable experiences.

What they don’t always see is the amount of planning that happens behind the scenes before the motorcoach ever leaves the parking lot.

At Warther Tours, we spend countless hours:
• Reviewing hotel locations
• Planning comfortable drive times
• Coordinating meals and attractions
• Monitoring weather and road conditions
• Working with local guides and partners

And sometimes… even the best plans need adjusted on the fly.

That’s where experience matters.

That’s part of what makes travel with Warther Tours different.
