"My mom has retired from making her mother’s potato salad, but I remember her peeling potatoes and trying to get one long spiraling strip every time. She always used a decades-old Warther’s paring knife (which I might have now).

While attempting her potato “art,” she’d tell my sisters and me she learned to peel potatoes while serving in the Army… and we would immediately chime in—perfectly in sync—reminding her she was never in the Army.

It may sound corny now, but back then it was just part of the routine—and part of what made this recipe so special.

Like every great cook, my mom always gave it a final taste and adjusted until it was just right—that perfect mix of sweet, tangy, and creamy." 💛
