Today was a beautiful day. Not only was it my birthday, but I got to spend it working alongside two amazing women doing work I love! 🥰

These ladies assembled two new furniture pieces that look amazing while I helped our client clear out two vehicle loads of clothes, decor, and household items!

A kitchen and pantry are up next, followed by a primary closet at the end of the week!

Helping someone feel lighter and have less on their plate makes me so happy. This work truly can be life changing, and I’m so grateful to everyone who welcomes us into their homes and trusts us to help. 💛

She's not a messy person. She's just a really busy mom.

Her girls clean up at school without being asked. At home? They walk away from everything. And she's the one picking it up. Every single time.

Her weekends disappear into dishes, laundry, and groceries, and by Sunday night, she hasn't gotten past triaging. She's sitting in a client meeting on Monday thinking about the piles waiting for her at home.

Her girls are creative. They make art, build forts, invent things. She loves that about them. But the mess piles up, the bins pile up, and somewhere along the way she stopped being able to sit down and just breathe.

She doesn't want a perfect home. She wants a home that works.

She wants her girls to know where their things go, and actually put them there. She wants to walk into her pantry and smile. She wants to say yes when her girls ask to have friends over without her stomach dropping.

She wants to feel proud when her mother-in-law walks through the door.

That mom is who we do this for.

Your organizing systems should work even when you’re tired.

If things keep getting set down in front of the bin instead of inside it, that’s a clue.

Maybe the bin is full. Maybe the lid adds an extra step. Maybe it’s too far from where you actually use the item.

Sometimes a system has reached capacity. Sometimes it doesn’t fit your routine anymore.

That doesn’t mean you’re bad at staying organized. It means we need to figure out what’s getting in the way.

My goal for you is to be able to easily put things away, even at the end of a long day.

Today was one of those Mondays where I literally didn’t want to do anything. 😂

Did I want to do the dishes? Nope. Did them anyway.
Make dinner? Nope. Did it anyway.
Set the coffee for tomorrow? Nope. Did it anyway.

Did I want to rest my eyes for “just a minute,” fall asleep, and miss my entire meeting with other organizers?

Apparently my body did. I was not consulted. 😂

Anyone else having that kind of Monday?

She knew it needed to happen. She just didn't have time to make it happen.

Her storage room had been on her mind for months. But she's a business owner, busy season was coming, and there was never a good window to dig in, let alone spend a whole Saturday organizing with the whole family.

So she spent about 20 minutes with us. Answered a couple questions. Showed us what was there.

And then she handed it over.

That's it. That was her part.

We came in, sorted everything out, built a system that made sense, and got it done without her having to plan around her schedule, rally her family, or give up a day she didn't have.

When she walked back in?

She danced.

That's what done for you actually means at Simply Sorty Organizing. You don't have to be there for all of it. You just have to say “have at it” and we will.

“Shove it in and close the door.”

That was my cleaning strategy as a kid.

When my mom told me to clean my room, everything went under the bed or into the closet. So much stuff that my mattress would literally lift off the springs.

I couldn't make the decision of where things belonged. I didn't want to decide what to throw away. I just wanted it to look fixed, fast.

Sound familiar?

Here's what I've learned since then: that wasn't laziness. That was decision fatigue before I even had words for it.

When nothing has a home, every single item becomes a decision. And when you're already running on empty, kids, work, dinner at 8pm, the last thing you have left is more decisions.

That's why systems change everything.

When everything already has a place, you don't have to think. You just put it there. Your kids don't have to think either. They just put it there.

No more shoving. No more pretending. Just a home that actually works.

You know that feeling of overwhelm where you feel paralyzed at knowing what you should do first? And then start thinking you should sell some items to get money back but the feeling of posting on Marketplace is just too much?

Then things sit and continue to take away your energy.

That's how my client felt.

She wanted to walk in her living room and enjoy her space. Walk in her kitchen knowing exactly where everything is. And have a place where her mail and bills land.

When I told her we'd help guide decisions and then take it from there to get everything back and organized, I saw her eyes close and she exhaled. She felt so much relief knowing everything will be done, including removing donations, in just 16 hours.
