Glad science is catching up. My issue is with the re-naming of the ancient knowledge as "groundbreaking discovery" and adding NEW TERMINOLOGY. It seems to be about creating a money stream and / or book deals, not collaboration. IMHO

"Matter is often introduced through three familiar states ~ solid, liquid, and gas. Modern physics, however, reveals a far richer spectrum of organization. As energy, temperature, and quantum conditions change, matter can express itself in dramatically different ways, each governed by its own principles and behaviors.

Solid represents stability and structure. Atoms are bound together in fixed arrangements, giving solids a definite shape and volume. From mountains and metals to crystals and living bone, solids provide the framework upon which much of the visible world is built.

Liquid emerges when particles possess enough energy to move freely while remaining loosely connected. Liquids flow, adapt to their containers, and play a central role in biological and ecological systems. Water, often called the medium of life, exemplifies the remarkable properties of this state.

Gas occurs when particles gain sufficient energy to move independently. Gases expand to fill available space and are constantly in motion. Earth’s atmosphere, weather systems, and the breath sustaining every living organism depend upon this dynamic state.

Plasma is often described as the fourth state of matter, yet it is the most abundant form in the visible universe. When gases are energized to the point that electrons separate from their atoms, an electrically charged medium forms. Stars, lightning, solar flares, and vast interstellar clouds are composed primarily of plasma. In many ways, plasma is the luminous fabric of the cosmos.

At the opposite extreme of temperature lie the quantum states.

Bose-Einstein Condensates (BECs) arise when certain particles known as bosons are cooled to temperatures only fractions of a degree above absolute zero. Under these extraordinary conditions, countless particles occupy the same quantum state and begin behaving as a single coherent entity. Individual distinctions blur, giving rise to phenomena that reveal the strange and beautiful foundations of quantum reality.

Fermionic Condensates form under similarly extreme conditions but involve fermions, the class of particles that includes electrons, protons, and neutrons. Because fermions cannot naturally occupy the same quantum state, they first pair together before condensing into a unified quantum system. These condensates provide important insights into superconductivity, superfluidity, and some of the deepest mysteries of quantum matter.

Taken together, these six states illustrate that matter is not a static substance but a continuum of organization shaped by energy, temperature, and fundamental physical laws. From the rigidity of crystal lattices to the radiant plasma of stars and the unified quantum fields of condensates, the universe reveals itself as an ever-changing expression of order, transformation, and emergence."

Quantum physics whispers what mystics have always sensed: the world is not as solid as it appears. At the deepest levels, matter dissolves into probabilities, fields, and relationships.
Electrons are not tiny stones circling a nucleus, but presences described by likelihood rather than location—appearing as particles here, waves there, depending on how they are encountered.
And yet the world is real. Tables still bear weight. Bodies still suffer and heal. What changes is not reality itself, but our understanding of its depth. Solidity is not an ultimate truth—it is a surface truth, emerging from something far more subtle and alive.
At the heart of the atom there is mostly space, structured by invisible forces. What we call “matter” is pattern and restraint, a kind of disciplined emptiness. Reality behaves less like stacked objects and more like a continuous unfolding—more like music than masonry.
I often think of fast-spinning fan blades or old aircraft propellers. When they move quickly enough, they vanish, freeze, or even seem to reverse direction under certain lights. A single marked point on the blade can appear as a dot or a blur, a particle or a wave. Nothing changes in the blade itself—only the way it reveals itself. Perception shifts. Reality remains.
Magnify any solid thing deeply enough and it dissolves again into finer structures, and then finer still. Where, then, is the boundary? Between matter and emptiness? Between motion and stillness? Between past, present, and future? Between the observer and the observed?
Perhaps there are no hard lines—only thresholds.
Scripture tells us, “In Him all things hold together.” Not as metaphor, but as mystery. The same Word that spoke light into being sustains every vibration, every field, every breath. Creation is not self-supporting. It is held—moment by moment—within divine faithfulness. Christian Universalism listens carefully here.
If God/Goddess truly holds all things, then nothing exists outside His/Her Divine redemptive intention. In Christ God/Goddess enters the depths of matter, time, suffering, and death—not to abandon creation, but to heal it from the inside. “Through Him/Her God/Goddess reconciles all things to Him/Herself.” Not selectively. Not eventually exhausted. All things.
Judgment, then, is fire that refines, not fire that discards. Separation is temporary. Restoration is the final horizon. Love is not God/Goddesses reaction to the world—it is the reason the world exists at all.
We are held together so that we may awaken: to love God/Goddess, to love our neighbor, and to learn—slowly, painfully, beautifully—to love ourselves. Science traces the edges of the mystery. Faith bows before its center.
And somewhere between probability and promise, between emptiness and fullness, creation moves—
not toward annihilation, but toward love."
