Tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other AI platforms can help with research, summaries, organization, and briefing preparation. But they can still miss context, misstate information, or produce an answer that sounds far more certain than it should.

Use AI to work faster. Use judgment to decide what matters. And verify anything you plan to rely on.

A good investigator knows how to get information without crossing the line.

Private investigation isn’t about breaking laws, hacking phones, or playing cowboy. It’s about understanding what’s legal, what’s ethical, and when a little lawful subterfuge is appropriate to uncover information someone wasn’t planning to volunteer.

The difference between clever and crooked is knowing exactly where that line is.

Don’t get catfished online.

If the person you just met looks like a model, owns three businesses, travels constantly, somehow has no tagged photos, and their entire life exists in six perfectly posed pictures…

You may want to pump the brakes.

If it feels too good to be true, there’s a decent chance it is.

Before you send money, personal information, or fall in love with somebody you’ve never met — verify who they actually are.

Because sometimes the biggest red flag is how perfect everything looks.

Private investigators can uncover a lot.

That does not mean we can do whatever we want to get it.

There’s a huge difference between finding information that’s publicly available and crossing a legal line to obtain something private.

Public records? Public-facing information? Often accessible.

Breaking into a house, logging into somebody’s private account, or pulling a Hollywood-style “investigator move”? Absolutely not.

And here’s the part people forget: if evidence is obtained illegally, it can become a problem for the client, the investigator, and the case itself.

A PI license is not a magic badge. There are still rules.

Flock cameras can be a powerful tool for law enforcement, but access to powerful technology also comes with responsibility.

A Florida deputy reportedly resigned following an internal investigation that included allegations he used Flock license-plate camera data to track an ex-girlfriend.

This is not the first reported case raising questions about how these systems can be accessed and used.
