My clients and friends know that I’ve been working on something a little bit outside of building Keep it Human for the past few years.

💙🖤 Last week in Baltimore, I walked in the commencement ceremony for my M.A. in Nonfiction Writing from Johns Hopkins University Advanced Academic Programs.

It is 30 years almost to the DAY from when I walked at Baltimore’s Homewood campus in the ceremony for my B.A. in Humanistic Studies at The Johns Hopkins University (concentrations in writing and music history). Once a Blue Jay, always a Blue Jay.

I did this program because I wanted to return to my creative roots. I have always been a writer, but after many years in digital media, I became a GM/Product leader and missed the opportunities to write.

My specialty is personal essay, so all of the writing I did in this program was quite personal and transformative and I further developed my writing voice. I love to play with form and structure, and got to do so much of that in this program.

I am grateful to my family and friends, especially my daughter Ella, for giving me grace and loving support while I pursued this dream.

I am proud to be a 2x (or would we call it a boomerang?) Blue Jay. 💙🖤

P.S. My thesis was an essay collection with a wacky historical fiction podcast where I interview the ghost of a 1930s woman executive from Long Island — if you’re an agent, 📱call me!

Just wrapped a 2-hour workshop at in their Jersey City HQ, surrounded by breathtaking views of Lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty.
Shared my expertise on generative AI tools with a fantastic group, covering when and how to use them, and what to watch out for.

Personally, I prepped with Claude and Gamma, creating custom outlines and images tailored to their business needs. The use case examples and learning materials were all my creation, and I had a blast doing it.

On a personal note, I'm a big fan of nuts.com - their honey cashews are a game-changer! 🍯🥜🌰

Could your team use a custom workshop like this? I’d love to help your business deploy AI responsibly.

20,000+ tech layoffs this past week. All framed as “inevitable.”

Meanwhile, mayors across 10 global cities launched a governance forum. Practitioners in Minneapolis-St. Paul spent a Friday morning mapping accountability gaps. A community of women based in Cambridge is building the human foundations AI transformation actually demands.

The existence of AI may be unavoidable. What it does to us is not yet written in stone.

What separates humans from AI? One of the most striking differences is AI’s inability to reference embodied experiences. I’ve been thinking about this a lot, and it’s one of the core differentiators of the current models. They don’t have childhood memories of listening to a certain song at the pool with their friends. Of eating a strawberry shortcake ice cream bar on that same hot summer day. Of the sensation of brain freeze that paralyzes all rational thought for a few seconds. Human identity is still unique and I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure it stays that way.

I am filled with gratitude for my experience in 10,000 Small Businesses. This week, I graduated with cohort 47, a group of 35 beautiful souls who happen to also be small business owners. During 14 weeks of intense focus using curriculum created in partnership with on how to scale our businesses, we laughed and cried and ate a lot of catered food and drank a whole lot of coffee—even some — and food from and and generous donations from other program alumni. I had no idea what to expect, but the reality was certainly bigger and better than anything I had anticipated. Stay tuned. Keep it Human is about to become the movement is was always meant to be. Thank you to my fellow scholars and to the amazing staff and faculty of the NYC program at for this transformative experience. Humanity at its best.

I’m calling for something that doesn’t exist yet.
But it should.
A required Human Impact Report before any AI-driven mass layoff can happen.
No report. No layoffs. Full stop.

Oracle. Amazon. Block. Dell.
Tens of thousands of people fired with no plan, no obligation, and no accountability.
And it is completely legal.

I’m disgusted.
And I think you should be too.

This is my Fired Up Friday.
Watch. Share. Let’s make some noise.

3️⃣ reasons you should NOT hire me to derisk your company’s AI strategy:

I have 25 years of Fortune 500 experience and an approach that gets results. But here’s when you might want to hire someone else:

🚫 You believe working sessions should be conducted with the gravity of a Viking funeral and a well-timed joke about robot overlords has no place in a boardroom.

🚫 You’re flummoxed by pop culture references and haven’t watched Succession, The Bear, Severance, or Upload—because I will be dropping references like it’s my job, and honestly, making hard concepts accessible kind of is.

🚫 You want your consultants to maintain a polished, buttoned-up professional persona at all times. I show up as my full self, which occasionally includes a story about how my 80-pound Lab puppy Lulu insists on being a lap dog every single morning.

Fair warning: I take the work seriously. Just not myself.

I love a book launch but it’s even more exciting when the authors are women I know. My heart was filled with joy last week when Ali Wines and Melissa Cohen read from their collection of letters: Letter to Lilly: Lessons in Leadership & Loving Yourself. And moderated which made the evening even more special as I met all three of these wonderful women through
