When I have children, there are a lot of things I hope I can teach them.
Not how to become rich.
Not how to impress other people.
Not how to look successful.
But something much more important.
How to keep their word.
Especially the promises they make to themselves.
Because self-respect isn’t built in public.
It’s built in the quiet moments.
When nobody is watching.
When nobody would know if you quit.
When nobody would blame you for giving up.
And yet…
You show up anyway.
You do the workout.
You study the language.
You take the difficult step.
You keep the promise.
Over time, those small promises become confidence.
They become discipline.
They become character.
And eventually, they become the person you are.
The most important promises you’ll ever keep are the ones you make to yourself.
