INVENTOR TIP: Why reinvent the wheel if the wheel works well? (Part 4 of 4)

Tip 4 - CAPTIVATE
It may seem obvious, but if you’re in love with your new consumer product idea, before you spend your time and resources on developing it, ask:
If your product isn’t based on consumer need, does it satisfy a different impulse?
What about it could create a buying frenzy?
Is it sentimental, silly, or relate to pop culture? Is it part of a creative craze? And if so, what makes it stand out?

INVENTOR TIP: Why reinvent the wheel if the wheel works well? (Part 3 of 4)

Tip 3 - SOLVE
It may seem obvious, but if you’re in love with your new consumer product idea, before you spend your time and resources on developing it, ask:
Does it satisfy a need that no one has thought about?
Might it solve an everyday annoyance that people have assumed has no solution? And if so, how do you know people will use it?

INVENTOR TIP: Why reinvent the wheel if the wheel works well? (Part 2 of 4)

Tip 2 - QUANTIFY
It may seem obvious, but if you’re in love with your new consumer product idea, before you spend your time and resources on developing it, ask:

INVENTOR TIP: Why reinvent the wheel if the wheel works well? (Part 1 of 4)
Tip 1 - RESEARCH

It may seem obvious, but if you’re in love with your new consumer product idea, before you spend your time and resources on developing it, do the following:

Research whether or not the product already exists. And if it does, ask what makes your “wheel” better, unique, or special?
