Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a significant day in American history that marks the emancipation of the last enslaved African Americans in 1865. This day is a powerful reminder of the enduring struggle for freedom, equality, and justice.

At the Equitable Infrastructure Group, we are committed to building a future where every community has access to the opportunities and resources needed to thrive. Juneteenth is not just a commemoration of the past, but a call to action for the present and future. It inspires us to continue our work in ensuring that our infrastructure projects serve all communities equitably, and that we break down barriers that have historically marginalized and underserved so many.

As we reflect on this day, let us reaffirm our dedication to creating inclusive and resilient infrastructures that honor the legacy of those who fought for freedom and justice. Together, we can build a more equitable and just society for all.

Long a bastion of white men, K Street has found itself scrambling in recent years to up its representation of employees of color. But the threats from Black lawmakers to stop meetings with certain firms represents one of the most aggressive attempts to actually force K Street to change from within.https://loom.ly/rskc8vw

“If you are not at the table, you are on the menu and someone is eating you for lunch.” Shirley Chisholm

Pioneering African American politician Shirley Chisholm (1924-2005) began her professional career as a teacher. In 1968, Chisholm became the first African American to earn election to Congress, where she worked on the Education and Labor Committee and helped form the Black Caucus.

In 1972, she made history again by becoming the first Black woman of a major party to run for a presidential nomination. After serving seven terms in the House, Chisholm retired from office to become a teacher and public speaker.
