Nobody prepares you for this part.
You apply for a role you know you're qualified for. You feel good about it. And then, silence.
And what happens next is the part that changes people.
Some sit with it. Get curious. Adjust.
Others start quietly negotiating with themselves. Maybe I'm not senior enough. Maybe my experience doesn't count the way I thought it did. Maybe I should aim lower.
The silence becomes a verdict.
But here's what I've learned watching PMs go through this: the silence was never about your worth. It was feedback about your positioning. About how clearly, or not, your experience was reading to a stranger in ten seconds.
Those are completely different problems.
One is about you. The other is about communication.
The job search will show you where that gap is. The question is whether you'll read it clearly, or internalize it as identity.
If you've been in that moment, I see you. And I want you to know, it's workable.
Where are you in your search right now? Drop it in the comments.
