On Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, it is traditional to hear the cantors sing "Avinu Malkeinu" (Our Father, Our King) in shul.

Here is Cantor Azi Schwartz with Cantor Shira Lissek and Cantor Rachel Brook singing "Avinu Malkeinu".

The words of the song ask God to have compassion for all of us and for all of our children, to help bring an end to war and famine, to cause all hate and oppression to vanish from the Earth. We pray that can happen!

Here is the English translation to "Avinu Malkeinu":

Tweaking this from another group: As tomorrow is not just Sabbath Eve but also Eve of Yom Kippur, doubly powerful, I hope we all take the opportunity to reflect, connect, and support one another during this meaningful time. Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, is a day of introspection, prayer, and seeking forgiveness, a chance to strengthen our connection with ourselves, our community, and the Divine.

He is known for inventing dynamite as well as having bequeathed his fortune to establish the Nobel Prizes. Each recipient, a Nobelist or laureate, receives a gold medal, a diploma, and a sum of money which is decided annually by the Nobel Foundation - as of 2023, 11 million SEK (roughly US$1.0 million, €0.95 million).
