Sometimes managing a business can feel a lot like a balancing act ⚖️

There's so many things that need done with not enough time to do them all.

That's why todays tip matters. One of the most important things a business owner needs to learn is when to get help and when to do it themselves.

Just because you're capable of doing all the things does NOT mean you SHOULD be doing all the things 😬

You might even be surprised how much your business starts to grow once you have more time to focus on the stuff that's really important.

Its normal to have some questions about hiring a freelancer, so here's some answers!

The onboarding process can seem daunting but its much easier than you think. There's a simple list of to dos that will get you well on your way to working with a freelancer.

→ Discovery Call
→ Proposal
→ Contract
→ Invoice
→ Welcoming/Onboarding Email
→ Onboarding Intake Form
→ Kick-off Call
→ Get set-up in platforms (get passwords, sign in, etc.)
→ Project board (in a Project Management Tool)
→ Offboarding Checklist

There are 6 tools every virtual biz needs to survive.

As an Online Business Manager, I have my own tech stack that I personally use:

☁️ Project Management: ASANA - It has everything I need to push my projects to completion. Checklists, project boards, content calendars, forms, workflows, communication, and more.

☁️ Workspace Tool: GOOGLE - This is an all-in-one tool that I don't think any business should go without. Email, calendars, documents, forms, spreadsheets, presentations, notes, meetings, etc.

☁️ Communication Tool: SLACK - I have never worked with a client who doesn't have Slack. Slack seems to be the universal communication tool for the virtual world.

☁️ Meeting Platform: ZOOM OR GOOLE MEET - I love both. I tend to sway more towards the Google Meet side because it's already included with my Google Workspace subscription and once you are invited to the meeting you don't need a host to let you in but both are great tools and highly recommend either or.

☁️ CRM Tool: HONEYBOOK - HoneyBook is great for leads, contracts, proposals, invoices, payments, bookkeeping, and questionnaires. Every time a client receives any time of Client Relations communication from me they are always so impressed with how seamless and aesthetically pleasing the whole process is.

☁️ Graphics + Content: CANVA - Canva is great for content planning, scheduling content to social media, creating content, graphics, logos, presentations, slide decks, and so much more.

What works for me may not work for you and that's okay. The key is to find something that doesn't bring you added stress. If something checks all the boxes and works well for your business with little stress or effort on your end, GO FOR IT!

Welllll....

The easiest way to explain it is that VAs are task oriented while OBMs are project oriented.

3️⃣ HELP US HELP YOU - Your business is your baby, believe me, I completely understand. However, you need to be willing to accept help and trust your OBM for things to really start moving. This circles back to creating a relationship, trust takes time and we know that but be open-minded.

1️⃣ COMMUNICATION - Shocker right? Your OBM can only help your business when you communicate what your business needs. To maximize time try and be prepared for meetings by having things ready to go. I know as a busy business owner you probably don't have the time to spend an hour writing a detailed list so a better option is to keep a note on your phone where to can jot down topics- quick and easy.

2️⃣ SOMETIMES IT TAKES TIME - Think of it like this, your OBM needs to have a relationship with you in order to understand your business needs. This means they probably need time to get to know you before things might start to feel like they really click, it's just like any other relationship.

3️⃣ HELP US HELP YOU - Your business is your baby, believe me I completely understand. However, you need to be willing to accept help and trust your OBM for things to really start moving. This circles back to creating a relationship, trust takes time and we know that but be open minded.

So what's an OBM? 🧐

Unlike VAs who are doers, OBMs are planners.

From preparing project briefs, providing tools, and compiling policies and procedures, there's a lot OBMs can do.

Leading and overseeing the operations of a company can be a time-consuming responsibility, that's where an OBM can help you out.

So what exactly can an OBM help your business with?

☁️ They can give you more time to focus on the growth of your business ☁️
I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you have been spending waaaay more time than you'd like on tedious tasks that have nothing to do with business growth. It's my job to take over or automate some of those tasks so YOU have more time to grow.

☁️ They can give you more time for your family ☁️
I know firsthand how rewarding being a business owner is but, it doesn't come without challenges. When you get help with those challenges you'll have more time to spend with family or doing other things in your personal life.
