Brewing Company, is the first Black female brewery owner in the United States. Beatty founded Harlem Brewing in 2000, making her first batch of beer in her apartment using a home brew kit she received as a gift. She worked hard perfecting her recipes and grew the business into the specialty craft brew that it is today. Beatty creates beers inspired by Harlem and ancient African traditions, using loads of flavors with the aim of celebrating Black culture and heritage. Beatty was born in 1964 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.She graduated from Shaw University in 1984 with a degree in International Relations. Beatty was interested in studying at Shaw in part because the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, a civil rights organization, had been founded there.

Eeron Redhead is the master blender and CEO of Eastern Caribbean Rum. He studied at Stony Brook University abd received a Bachelors in History specializing in East Asian Studies and has with a minor in Art History and International Relations. He worked in Commodities in New York for a Japanese firm and moved to Grenada in 2001 to create a Rum business and opened Eastern Caribbean Rum in 2002. He was born in Grenada and raised in Harlem.

Born to Aruban and Grenadian parents, Chef Belinda’s own childhood is a true testament to having lived a multicultural lifestyle, experiencing cultural melting pots as an International New Yorker and Caribbean daughter.

With a global point of view and influenced by her environment, Chef Bishop set in motion to revolutionise the culinary industry with her own signature fusion of ingredients, incorporating traditional stories with flavourful elements from countries across the Caribbean Sea. Her achievements internationally include managing five restaurants and banquet halls as the food production manager at Marriott Hotels in New York, Florida, and Atlanta; cooking for renowned celebrities, such as Oprah Winfrey in her role as Chef de Partie at Trump Plaza; as well as cooking for former American President Bill Clinton at the United Nations Building in New York. Her dynamism and positive energy have given way to formidable partnerships with key influencers, such as Ambassador at Large for Belize, Attallah Shabaaz, daughter of civil rights activist Malcom X.

Hekima Hapa is a Fashion Designer, social entrepreneur, author and Founder of the 22 year sustainable independent fashion brand inspired by Africa and the people of its diaspora, Harriet’s Alter Ego also known as Harriet’s by Hekima. 

Ms. Hapa founded Black Girls Sew, a nonprofit organization committed to positively impacting the lives of youth and families through education in sewing, design and entrepreneurship. 

Hekima has been a recipient of the Brooklyn Arts Council Fund for the past 10 consecutive years and the Reduce, Reuse and Repair and Neighborhood Grant from Citizens Committee NYC. 

In 2022, Hapa teamed up with author and designer Lesley Ware to publish the nonprofit’s first book, “Black Girls Sew: Projects and Patterns to Stitch and Make Your Own". Hekima is currently an cohort 14 , Artist in Residence at Textile Arts Center.
