Happy International Women's Day! 🌸✨
Today we celebrate the women who lead, the women who serve, the women who show up β€” and the women who refuse to be silent. πŸ’ͺπŸ’™
At AKULA Interpreting, women are not just part of our story. Women ARE our story.
From our CEO Diane Mbombo-Tite β€” who personally coaches and mentors the next generation of language professionals through PETALL β€” to our incredible interpreters who serve communities every single day in languages that bridge worlds β€” every single day at AKULA is a celebration of what women can build, lead, and transform. 🌍
Language access is about more than words. It is about giving people β€” especially women and families β€” a voice in systems that too often leave them unheard. That is the work. That is the mission. And we are proud to do it. πŸ™
To every woman in our community β€” you are seen. You are valued. You are powerful. πŸ’™πŸŒΈ
Tag a woman who inspires you today! πŸ‘‡

H Bosh Jr asked our CEO Diane Mbombo-Tite of Akula Interpreting and Translation LLC what she would say to young women β€” specifically women of color β€” who want to become entrepreneurs.
Here's what she said:
"Do it. Don't wait for the fear to go away. Have the courage to launch β€” because you are the one who will inspire many others who look like you."
And then:
"Our daughters are watching us. Every morning I ask myself β€” will Mounya, my 10-year-old, be proud of me today? Will she feel like she has superpowers?"
From an asylum seeker who arrived with nothing, to NYS Entrepreneur of the Year β€” Diane lives this message every single day.
To every woman, every young girl watching: yes, you can do it. πŸ’›

We are so grateful. πŸ’›
Our CEO Diane Mbombo-Tite was recently featured on the Triple E's show with H Bosh Jr at ReMoh Media β€” and we want to take a moment to thank this community.
Ten years ago, Diane arrived in Albany as an asylum seeker β€” eight months pregnant, facing homelessness, starting from zero. Family Promise and RISSE showed up for her. Albany showed up for her. And she never forgot it.
She became an interpreter. Then in 2020, during COVID, she founded AKULA β€” now 60+ interpreters, 150+ languages, serving families in courtrooms, hospitals, and schools across New York and beyond. NYS Entrepreneur of the Year. Women on the Rise. And today, a board member of the very organization that once gave her children a roof.
That full circle belongs to this community as much as it belongs to her.
🎬 Watch the clip and stay tuned for the full interview β€” coming soon.

What does it look like when a CEO personally coaches a student? At AKULA Interpreting, you are about to find out. πŸ‘€πŸ’™
Our CEO Diane Mbombo-Tite recently sat down with Farrah Agyeman and Kamsiyochukwu Dozie-Obele β€” two talented students from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute β€” to explore a potential partnership with SUNY Albany and RPI. The goal? To create pathways for students into the real world of professional language services β€” through translation, interpretation, and internships in accounting, IT, social media, and program management.
But the part that sets this apart from every other student partnership out there is this:
When Farrah and Kamsi come on board, both our CEO AND our IT Director will personally be their coaches. πŸ’‘
Ask yourself β€” when was the last time you heard of a CEO personally coaching students? Most organizations leave that entirely to other team members. Leadership stays at the strategic level. Coaching gets delegated.
Not at AKULA. Here, our leaders believe that showing up personally for the next generation is not a luxury β€” it is a responsibility. And it is one we take seriously. πŸ’ͺ
Farrah and Kamsi are about to experience what it means to be truly invested in β€” from the very top. And we could not be more excited for them. 🌟
Big love to our partners at RISSE and Albany Public Library for helping us build a community where this kind of investment is possible! πŸ™

At AKULA Interpreting, everything we do comes back to one belief: access changes lives. πŸ’¬πŸŒ
This week gave us two beautiful reminders of that truth.
Maimouna joins the AKULA family. πŸ’™
We are honored to welcome Maimouna β€” a new French, Fulani, and Mandingo interpreter β€” to our team. From her very first day, our CEO Diane Mbombo-Tite is personally mentoring her through PETALL, our mentorship and workforce development program. Because at AKULA, we believe every emerging professional deserves a mentor who truly shows up β€” and Diane does. Every time. πŸ™
Know Your Library at RISSE. πŸ“š
Yesterday, we were part of a wonderful "Know Your Library" event at RISSE, where community members learned how to access a FREE Albany Public Library card β€” and everything that comes with it:
βœ”οΈ Up to 100 books at a time
βœ”οΈ Free computer use & printing
βœ”οΈ Museum passes
βœ”οΈ Kids' resources
βœ”οΈ Language support in Spanish, French, Arabic, Pashto, and Dari
Seeing families, students, and newcomers light up as they discovered these resources was a powerful reminder of why this work matters. 🌟
Access to mentorship. Access to information. Access to community. That is the AKULA mission β€” lived out every single day.
Drop a ❀️ if you believe libraries are still one of the most powerful community resources!

Dear Diane, πŸ’›

On February 23rd, you walked into a room full of leaders β€” and you belonged there. Completely. Fully. Without question.

You took the stage at the Albany Business Review's Bizwomen Mentoring Monday at Hilton Garden Inn Troy, 235 Hoosick Street, Troy NY 12180 β€” on the Women on the Rise Panel β€” and you did what you have always done.

You talked. 🌍

Not just about Akula. Not just about language services. But about what it truly means to show up β€” for your community, for your mission, and for every person who has ever needed a voice.

You sat alongside extraordinary women:
🌟 Kadijah Johnson β€” Okay, Let's Talk & HUNT Real Estate
🌟 Samantha Quinn β€” Northeastern Insurance

And together you gave that room something it will carry for a long time. Inspiration. Purpose. And the reminder that rising is always better when we do it together.

We see you Diane. We are proud of you. And we cannot wait to see where this journey takes you next. πŸ’›πŸŒŸπŸ•ŠοΈ

With so much pride β€” The Akula Family. 🌺🌍✨

πŸŒ™ Every Language Holds a Light.

This Ramadan, we honor the voices that carry faith, memory, and belonging across every border.
Ramadan has been observed for over 1,400 years β€” across deserts, oceans, refugee camps, and city apartments. It is a month that has never needed translation to be felt. And yet the greeting exchanged a billion times this month, the pre-dawn meal shared before the fast begins, the communal breaking of bread at sunset β€” these are not just rituals. They are how people carry their full selves across borders, in languages the world too rarely makes room for.

At AKULA, we work every day alongside those communities. We've interpreted for the mother explaining a medical diagnosis while fasting. The father navigating a court date during the holy month. The child learning to hold two worlds at once and belong to both.

Ubuntu teaches us: I am because we are. Ramadan echoes the same truth β€” that to fast together, to witness one another across language and culture, is to be fully human.

To every community observing this sacred month β€” in Arabic, Somali, Hausa, Wolof, Pashto, Urdu, Bengali, and beyond β€”

✨ Ramadan Mubarak β€” blessed Ramadan. We see you. We honor you. We are here.

Last year's palms become this year's ashes. Last year's celebration becomes this year's humility.
We don't always get it right. We carry things. We forget things. We rush past what matters. Today we stop.
And in stopping, we remember something ancient β€” that we become better because of each other. That my neighbor is my brother. My colleague is my auntie. The stranger I serve is my mother.

Ash Wednesday is a 1,000-year-old invitation to be honest about who we are β€” fragile, finite, and still worth showing up for. Not despite our humanity, but because of it.

We are dust. We are together.

This past weekend, AKULA CEO Diane Mbombo-Tite represented our mission at the 55th Annual Caucus Weekend hosted by the New York State Association of Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian Legislators in Albany.

WHY WE SHOW UP:
At AKULA, we believe that language access isn't just a serviceβ€”it's a bridge to equity, opportunity, and justice. Events like Caucus Weekend allow us to connect with decision-makers who share our commitment to ensuring that every voice can be heard, regardless of the language spoken.

MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS:
Our CEO had the privilege of engaging with key leaders advancing diversity and inclusion across New York:
πŸ“Έ Jason M. Clark, Esq. - Executive Vice President, NYS Division of Minority & Women's Business Development
πŸ“Έ Senator James Sanders Jr. - 10th District
πŸ“Έ Michael J. Garner, MBA, CCA - Chief Business Diversity Officer, Mayor's Office of M/WBEs
πŸ“Έ Honorable Dorcey L. Applyrs - Mayor of Albany, NY

Diane also participated actively in policy sessions, asking critical questions about how language access intersects with the issues that matter most to New York's diverse communities.

CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE:
A special moment: connecting with Ms. Black US, whose platform of empowerment and community advocacy aligns perfectly with AKULA's mission of amplifying voices that deserve to be heard.

THE POWER OF COMMUNITY:
The weekend concluded with an unforgettable Sneaker Ball, where our team celebrated alongside New York's political leadersβ€”with a surprise performance by 50 Cent that reminded us all why we do this work: to build community, celebrate culture, and create spaces where everyone belongs.

OUR COMMITMENT:
As a New York State Certified MWBE founded by an immigrant entrepreneur, AKULA specializes in rare languages and languages of lesser diffusion. We don't just provide interpretation servicesβ€”we ensure that schools, hospitals, courts, and social service agencies can serve ALL New Yorkers, including speakers of the 150+ languages we coordinate.

When policy-makers gather to discuss New York's future, we make sure the conversation includes how to reach every community, in every language.

Thank you to the organizers of Caucus Weekend 2026 and to every leader committed to building a more inclusive New York. We're proud to be your partners in access and equity.
