This problem with the "fun house mirror" effect of prism eyeglasses is what our prisms correct. With improved prisms, and in many cases vision therapy, growing older does not have to lead to reduced vision. Often people can resolve their condition. The strabismus mentioned here is a form of BV disorder, which studies indicate is over 12% of the population, with some studies showing a prevalence of over 30%.

Testing for BV disorder can change lives. Fewer than 10% of the doctors test for the disorder, which is why we put so much time into our patient guide, and identifying it as a less than one minute process in the article below. BV disorder is required testing in the military. It would be helpful to hear any feedback regarding individual experiences with finding doctors for the tests and treatment. This is one public health issue that is readily addressed. The resolution is a win for doctors, patients, corporate profitability, and our economy.

We need to update vision testing protocols to reflect how we spend most of our time these days—with computers and digital devices and not with hard copies of documents. We need to make sure patients have the visual skills to use the tools necessary in today’s digital world, such as algorithms and computational graphs and formulas. Practically, this is rarely tested.
