The moving truck called this morning and said they were coming three hours early. I panicked.

I was moving my mom into assisted living. I had the whole day planned around a later start, and suddenly all that runway was gone.

So I made it work with the time I had. And it got done. All of it.

I keep thinking about that.

Because we do the opposite in business. We delay. We push the launch. We tell ourselves we need more time, more polish, one more pass before it’s ready.

We don’t need more time. We need a deadline.

The truck gave me one I couldn’t argue with, and the work rose to meet it. Most of the things you’re waiting to feel ready for would already be done if you had given yourself a date and refused to move it.

Last night my son’s team won a game everything was stacked against. And it taught me something I’ve watched too many business owners forget.

You don’t get to control the conditions. You only get to control whether you show up for them.

The launch where the timing isn’t ideal. The post you write when life is messy. The pitch you send when someone else seems to have every advantage. The decision you make when the path is clear but the energy isn’t.

Most people wait. They tell themselves the conditions will be better next week, next month, next launch. They will not be.

The conditions are never ideal. That is the point. The people who build the businesses you admire didn’t show up when it was easy.

They showed up when it was hard, jet-lagged, out of their time zone, playing the uphill game.

Showing up when it’s not ideal isn’t naive. It’s the whole strategy. So show up. Save this for the next time you tell yourself the conditions aren’t right. Tell me in the comments what you’ve been waiting to show up for.

She got off a strategy session with a clear diagnosis. The work was obvious. She knew exactly what was broken in her visibility.⁠

Here’s what I’ve watched happen too many times to count…the money you’re waiting to make is on the other side of the work you’re not doing yet. Not adjacent to it. Not after it. On the other side of it.⁠
