But when you're standing on a stage in front of hundreds of people, presentation is part of the job. The right look has to work with the event, feel powerful, move easily, look polished under stage lighting, and survive a very long night.

Absolutely not.

Because behind every glamorous, high-energy gala is a lot of planning, problem-solving, and people doing mental math at a speed no calculator could keep up with.

I wanted to build something bigger than a job on stage. A company that brings strategy, energy, and heart to the nonprofits we work with and creates space for women to lead in an industry where we’re still underrepresented.

As the first female-owned and operated benefit auction company in New York, Star Benefit Auctions is something I’m incredibly proud to have built. And honestly? 20+ years later and we feel like we’re just getting started.

Someone can't find the correct bid paddles.

The AV needs one more adjustment.

A VIP just arrived unexpectedly.

The timeline is suddenly… flexible.

Every gala has a moment when something doesn't go exactly as planned.

And honestly? That's part of live events.

The goal isn't to pretend surprises won't happen. It's to have an experienced team that can adapt, communicate, solve the problem, and keep the room feeling like everything is exactly where it should be.

Because guests should experience the magic.

Not the panic backstage.
