Today, we recognize the International Day of Sign Languages and the many sign languages used by Deaf communities around the world.

Sign languages are complete, natural languages with their own grammar, structure, and cultural context. Meaningful language access starts with recognizing and respecting them as such.

We’re grateful for the Deaf professionals, interpreters, advocates, and communities who continue to strengthen communication access every day. 💙

Today, we remember.

For those of us who call New York City home, September 11 is woven into the memory of our city—into our families, our neighborhoods, and the people and communities who make New York what it is.

We remember the lives lost, the families and loved ones who carry that loss, and the first responders, workers, volunteers, and everyday New Yorkers who showed extraordinary courage and compassion in the days, months, and years that followed.

Today is a day to honor them, to hold space for one another, and to remember the strength that comes from a city standing together.

This Pride Month, we’re celebrating with purpose.

Pride is about being seen, being heard, and actually being part of the conversation, in real ways.

That means thinking about access from the start.
Language access matters.
ASL interpretation matters.
Captions matter.

These services make it possible for people to show up fully and feel included.
For anyone planning events this month (and beyond): take a minute to look at your setup.

Are you building in ASL? Are captions available? Are you planning for language access from the beginning, not as a last step?

Small decisions here make a big difference in who actually gets to participate.
