🟡 Today is the 7th celebration of World Bee Day.
We honor Anton Janša (1734–1773)—a painter turned apiarist from Carniola, a mountainous region in what is now Slovenia.
Then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Carniola was rich in culture, bees, and resilient highlanders.
Janša became the first imperial teacher of beekeeping at the Habsburg court in Vienna.
He died at just 39—a short life, like the bees he studied.
But one that pollinated generations with insight, harmony, and strategy.
🐝 Bees live just weeks—but in that time, they nourish the world.
No bees, no crops.
No crops, no people.
Tiny lives. Monumental outcomes.
I feel that truth personally.
Though I come not from Carniola but from the Carpathians of Central Europe, also once part of the Austro-Hungarian world, I was raised among mountain people who knew bees, soil, scarcity, and survival.
Centuries later, I do a different kind of tending.
Not to hives—but to tax structures, financial stories, and wealth ecosystems.
Still—like bees, we observe.
We harvest.
We protect what sustains life.

🌼 May 20 is also my sister’s birthday.
She was the fifth child, the only girl at the time.
She drowned young. I was born next—her passing made space for my beginning.
Later, we welcomed another sister.
Her life was short, but like the bee’s—her mark was permanent.
She reminds me every day:
What matters is not duration, but devotion.
