The right product may have been in the catalog the whole time. She just didn't have the words for it.
Discovery increasingly starts with an image: a screenshot, a Pinterest board, a room someone liked. Google Lens now handles more than 20 billion visual searches a month, and 1 in 4 carries commercial intent. 69% of Gen Z users on Pinterest say visual results help them decide more than text or reviews.
Keyword search still works when shoppers know the terminology. Visual search covers everything else: silhouette, texture, finish, color, pattern, and the details people recognize instantly but can't name.
