She’s called a tailorbird! Tailorbirds sew leaves into cone shapes to protect their nests from predators. A single leaf cone can contain between 150 and 200 stitches! They’re known to use insect silk and sometimes even human-made thread to sew up the leaves. 😃🥰❤️

Oh 6” C-Thru graph ruler how we love thee. Transparent plastic 8ths graph rulers of various widths and lengths are used mostly in drafting patterns and quilting but for on-set tailors, the compact size of the 1”x 6” is perfect for us. There are many other tools folks like to use for measuring and marking their adjustments, like a tailor’s measuring tape or a sewing gauge but we just love the this one. Because it’s see through and marked as a grid it allows for the most precision. Just remember - ‘Measure twice, cut once!' 📏✂️

There are people that come into your life that you connect with, you may not be sure what makes it so, but you go with it and that connection evolves and grows into something you never could’ve imagined. That’s how we feel about the tailors on the Bushwood team. So thankful that 10 years later we still get to work with many of you who started out with us, and even those who changed courses and have pursued other endeavors, we still cherish you. Happy National Tailors Day to you and all of the tailors out there doing your thing with needle and thread ✨💝✨
