Joseph Foudy, Clinical Associate Professor of Economics, NYU Stern

A recipient of the 2013 Distinguished Teaching Award, Joseph Foudy is a Clinical Associate Professor of Economics at NYU Stern.
Professor Foudy has extensive teaching experience covering Asian
economics, international business, and globalization. He is
interviewed regularly on CNN, Fox, PBS and NPR, and has been
quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and other
international publications. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science
from Cornell University in 2004.

Brian Oak, Managing Director, Moody's Investors Service

Brian Oak is currently a Managing Director in Moody’s Corporate Finance Group in New York, responsible for the Basic Industries ratings coverage in the US.
Prior to this he had responsibilities for a number of other industrial sectors, including homebuilding, building products, and technology, as well as the Latin American non-financial corporates.

From 1998 through 2004, Brian was in the Financial Institutions Group, his last post being a Managing Director overseeing the ratings of Asia/Pacific financial institutions based out of Tokyo.

Brian joined Moody’s NY in 1993 in the Leveraged Finance Group. Brian’s work experience prior to Moody’s includes The Bank of New York and Arthur Young & Co.Brian received a B.S. degree in Accounting from New York University and a MBA in International Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He is also a certified public accountant.

Xuan Wang, Chief Representative, China Reinsurance (Group) Corporation

China Reinsurance (Group) Corporation is the 8th biggest P&C reinsurance company in the world. Mr. Wang has plenty of experience and broad view of the insurance industry due to his 20 years’ career life in both China insurance market and US insurance market.

Before current position, he had led New York office for China Continent Insurance Company (CCIC) for 7years. He joined CCIC in 2004. As the Deputy General Manager of Business Management Department, he was in charge of underwriting and marketing. He had once been the General Manager of Suzhou Branch.

Prior to joining CCIC, he had worked for the People’s Insurance Company of China (PICC) for 12 years. He has worked in different departments in PICC including Strategy, R&D, Property Insurance Management, International Business. He designed the first Employer Liability Insurance product for domestic market for PICC.

He graduated from Northwest University in China and has a Master degree of Economics. He also earned his MBA from Rutgers University. He is the director member of The Finance Committee of China General Chamber of Commerce—U.S.A. and the Member of the Chinese Insurance Brokers Association.

Andrew Mao, Deputy General Manager, China Merchants Bank

Mr. Mao oversees the business activities of China Merchants Bank's operation in the US. He was Representative at CMB’s first US Representative Office from 2003 through 2007. He helped CMB become the first Chinese bank approved by the Federal Reserve to establish a branch in the US since 1991.

Prior to coming to the US, Mr. Mao was Vice President of Branch Management at CMB Head Office. He was responsible for branch development strategy and expansion of CMB’s branch network. He had helped create China’s first bank anti-money laundering policy and helped CMB first entry into Hong Kong. In his various previous roles, Mr. Mao had worked in many different areas including trade finance, payment, treasury and trading at CMB.

Mr. Mao received BA and MA degrees in Economics from Wuhan University, Wuhan, China and Executive MBA degree from Columbia University, New York.

Andy is a Managing Director at UBS International, specializing in managed portfolios and client relationships for private clients and
institutions. Prior to UBS, Andy managed $2bn in discretionary
global balanced portfolios for private clients at Morgan Stanley, and
sat on the Trust and Investment Committee for Morgan Guaranty
Trust Company of the Bahamas. Andy speaks fluent Mandarin, and
obtained his MBA from NYU, in addition to an MA in East Asian
Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
