CW Pencil Enterprise, based in the Lower East Side of New York City, was founded in 2014 by Caroline Weaver. We specialize in locating superior graphite from all over the world.

Introducing: The Locavore Variety Store, my new shop at 434 6th Ave in Manhattan!

It's a shop about shopping! It's a shop about New York! It's a general store for products (mostly) made by independently-owned brands within 100 miles of NYC!

For the past two years, I've been building The Locavore Guide, which is a directory and resource all about shopping local, IRL, and I consider this to be the physical manifestation of this lifestyle. Leave your apartment, talk to your neighbors, get the instant gratification of shopping in-person. It's a beautiful way to live, and I hope you'll join me.

✏️Hi! It's Caroline :) In case you missed it: last week, I launched a ✨BRAND NEW✨ business 🛍️! It's an idea that I've been thinking about since long before CW closed, and one that is very much informed by everything I learned and experienced as a shopkeeper. Here's the scoop:

What is The Locavore Guide?

In short: it's a comprehensive database of human-collected information on local shops to help you find what you're looking for more easily. Think Yellow Pages but small biz only, designed for the internet age.

During my tenure as a shop owner, I noticed that as the internet gets more and more flooded and the retail industry becomes increasingly DTC focused, it was getting harder to locate actual local businesses. I dreamt of an unbiased directory where I could find IRL places to shop, without having to sift through all the riff raff.

So, here we are: trying to enable a better shopping climate for New York City shopkeepers and customers alike, and we're just getting started! 🌞

We’re stocked and ready for a busy weekend ❤️Here are a couple of things to know if you’ll be coming by:
We will have a line to get into the store! Today the wait was about 45 minutes at our busiest.
We are still requiring masks regardless of vaccination status!
What you see in the shop is what we have available. We will not be restocking throughout the day, so come early if there’s something specific you want :)

Meet Alyx! She's originally from Durham, North Carolina and has been working by my side for over 3 years! Around here she's known officially as our Special Projects Director, which means that she's in charge of our custom pencil projects, brand collaborations, packaging and many many more things. In real life she's a writer and is currently working on a novel, which we CAN'T WAIT to read. When she's not here, she can be found tending to her many plants, knitting beautiful gifts for her friends, riding her bike around Manhattan and planning her next adventure (which, in case you're wondering, is Georgia--the country).
