“2025 was an exceptional year,” said Marie-Laure Akin-Olugbade, Senior Vice President of the African Development Bank Group. “We approved $11 billion in financing, the second highest level in the bank’s history. Just as importantly, disbursement reached $7.1 billion, the highest level in the past five years.”

“For the first time ever, ADF beneficiary countries made contributions to their own concessional financing window. This is unique and this is laudable,” explained Hassatou Diop N’Sele, Vice-President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer of the African Development Bank Group.

For five days, nearly 4,000 participants from 81 member countries came together with a shared purpose. Ministers, governors, financial leaders, development partners, investors and business champions, all united around one imperative: unlocking the resources to finance Africa’s future.

“I will always cherish the privilege of the moments we shared and remember his warmth, generosity and deep commitment to his country and his people.

This photograph brings back precious memories and makes today’s loss even more poignant. His legacy will live on through the generations he inspired and the nation he helped shape.
