Building owners, December 31 is going to sneak up on a lot of you, and it isn't just one deadline.

Here's what's due: Local Law 87 energy reports for tax blocks ending in 6, your annual boiler inspection, and Local Law 152 gas piping inspections for Community Districts 4, 6, 8, 9 and 16. Then on Jan 1, 2027, gas detectors have to be installed under LL157.

Waiting on your gas piping inspection could cost you. Miss the deadline and you could get a DOB violation. If a problem is found late, the gas can be shut off until it's fixed.

Here's what's happening. Buildings in Community Districts 4, 6, 8, 9 and 16 have to finish their gas piping inspection by Dec 31. A licensed master plumber has to do it, filings go through DOB NOW: Safety, and the one-time 180-day extension has to be requested before the deadline.
