Why "Meet Up At The Whitney Soon" Matters
This isn't just a campaign—it’s a cultural invitation. We are building a space where Black excellence, intergenerational storytelling, and community take center stage. Art isn't just something you look at; it’s something we experience together.

From joyful reunions to families discovering the museum for the first time, this night reminded us that when we gather, we expand what is possible for our communities.

What an unforgettable evening at the Whitney Museum of American Art as our community came together to honor the incomparable Debbie Allen during Free Friday Nights.

We were deeply grateful to have Donna Walker-Kuhne, President of Walker International Communications Group (WICG), open the evening with her signature warmth, wisdom, and passion for building audiences and creating meaningful cultural experiences. Donna set the tone for a night filled with Black excellence, creativity, and joy.

The evening began with Dancing in the Light: Healing with the Arts, a high-energy community dance class created by Debbie Allen that transformed the Whitney lobby into a space of movement, healing, and celebration. Families, friends, youth, and arts lovers danced together in a spirit of hope and resilience.

We then gathered in the theater for a moving screening of 100 Years of Debbie Allen, followed by an inspiring conversation with Debbie Allen herself. The film offered an intimate portrait of her remarkable journey as an artist, educator, activist, and visionary whose impact has shaped generations across dance, theater, television, and film.

From the live DJ set to the exclusive Debbie Allen Dance Academy merchandise, every moment reflected the enduring legacy of a woman who has dedicated her life to uplifting others through the arts.

Thank you to Debbie Allen, Donna Walker-Kuhne, the Whitney Museum, Richard E. Pelzer II and everyone who joined us for this extraordinary evening of storytelling, movement, and community.

When culture moves, we meet.

Meet Up at the Whitney Soon...
PULL UP. WE’LL BE THERE.

This past weekend was more than just a visit—it was a moment. We celebrated Jazz Appreciation Month at the Whitney for Free Second Sunday, and the vibes were unmatched.

From the live jazz lounge sets curated by to the multi-generational energy flowing through the galleries, we proved that art is at its best when it’s shared. We’re shifting the narrative from "institution" to "our space."

Whether you’re coming from Harlem or the Hudson, there’s a seat for you here. This is where we gather. This is where we belong.

Missed this one?

Don’t worry, the movement continues: Free Friday Nights: Every week! Free Second Sundays: Monthly community celebration.

Bring your people. Pull up. Meet us at the Whitney.
