On Friday September 11th, I had the honor of joining Christian leaders from across Tanzania to pay our respects to Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, at her home in Kizimkazi, following the passing of her beloved husband.

My father, Vernon Fernandes who serves as the National Chairman of the Council of Pentecostal Churches of Tanzania, led the delegation. Together, we had the opportunity to pray with our President Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, offer our condolences, and stand with her and her family during this difficult time.

In moments of grief, we are reminded of the importance of faith, compassion and standing together as a nation.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

May God continue to comfort and strengthen our President Samia Suluhu Hassan and her family, and may His peace be with them during this season of mourning. 🇹🇿🙏🏾

What an honor to represent Tanzania on the Miss World Global stage, as we welcome the world to Tanzania.

Dressed in traditional Masai tribal attire and carrying our nation’s flag on stage was a true honor for me. I thank the government for trusting me and sending me to Vietnam.
