RE: New DMS roll out.
High Everyone, We've been working for the last 9 months or so on this new site roll out, as well as on a DMS restructure.
Too many changes to list in one Facebook post, but to make a long story short, we are restructuring our entity to Non-Profit Organization (NPO).
The site is up and running as usual, and all the new changes are already in place, but we estimate that by early 2023 it would be fully tested and functional.
Therefore, new funds will be needed for member support and a new promotional campaign.
With this new site rollout, you will finally be able to determine how much mastering work your studio profile generates, something that was not our main role in the past.
And as always, we don't charge commission fees, so you keep 100% of what you make.
Some people here have suggested converting DMS to a full-fledged advocacy site for mastering engineers, well, that's something we would also like to promote, but the reality is, it's not going to work if we continue to see/receive a total indifference from the so-called "mastering community".
Frankly, I don't see how true ME's are going to survive when a new generation of artists, musicians and producers regard audio mastering only as their last mixing step.
Some will continue to upload their mixes to the latest automatic "mastering" site that claims brilliant results through 'artificial intelligence'.
I am not talking about those of you with major label clients via major label work. I'm sure you will be in business for as long as there is a major label left that believes in the importance of professional mastering.
No, I am talking about those who left their major mastering studios to create their own mastering services.
That said, some of you don't care because a) your time to retire is coming soon anyway, b) you have so many clients that are still calling you, or C) frankly, my dear...I don't give a damn...
No matter what your reasons are, your work legacy will be meaningless if nobody even knows and remembers what audio mastering was really all about.
Bottom line friends, I am not wasting a good internet platform on those who don't even believe in their craft legacy.
Worse case scenario, the DMS acronym will change definition from 'Directory Of Mastering Studios' to 'Directory of Music Studios' because pretty much every recording studio does also mastering these days.
I would hate to do that as it would mean failure to me, but life must go on.
