Teaching the next generation how to build a sustainable future is a lot easier when your roof is already leading by example. ☀️

Global School Brooklyn, located in Crown Heights, is one of the few places in NYC offering full dual-language immersion in both German and Spanish for preschool through 8th grade. Recognized by the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad, GSB brings kids together from all over the city to build cultural awareness, critical thinking, and a real commitment to equity and sustainability.

To power their mission, we built a 60-panel hybrid system on their roof. Combining a custom solar canopy with tilt rack setups, this system generates 24.9 kW of clean energy. The canopy keeps valuable roof space open for activity, while the tilt racks capture ideal NYC sunlight year-round to help power the school's daily operations.

Lights, camera, solar! We are excited to share that our team was selected as a spotlight business in the new national Chase Ink campaign! Scroll to see some BTS footage and the final ad spot!

Our team spent a few days with Chase Ink showcasing what it looks like to bring solar to New Yorkers. This project gave us a unique opportunity to open our doors, highlight our hardworking crew, and feature the community gardens we proudly support through our BSW Gives Back initiative. We filmed atop one of our most iconic systems at Habana Outpost, as well as at Phoenix Community Garden, where we donated a solar panel and battery.

We believe building a sustainable future goes hand in hand with supporting our local neighborhoods, and putting a spotlight on our local roots made this project mean so much more to us. Having solar featured across TV, radio, podcasts, and social media is a huge win. Keep an eye out for familiar faces like Gaelen McKee and TR Ludwig alongside our solar squad!

In between helping NYC homeowners power their homes with solar, a few of our staff members run our rooftop garden club. They've been growing everything from fresh herbs to giant sunflowers, and are currently harvesting tomatoes and cucumbers.

Emanuel opened on Starr Street with a commitment to clean energy from day one, running an all-electric bakery and kitchen powered directly by rooftop solar. By taking advantage of key commercial solar incentives, he is setting his business up for over $100,000 in projected energy savings over the next 30 years.

What if your roof could generate its own clean power, slash cooling costs, and manage stormwater all at the same time? 🌱☀️

A rooftop isn't just empty space; it's one of a building's biggest assets. By pairing a green roof with a 33.5 kW hybrid solar array, this co-op project delivers double the impact for the building and its residents.

First, the green roof acts as natural thermal insulation, keeping heat out during hot summers and trapping warmth in winter to directly lower heating and cooling loads. The thick layer of soil and hardy, drought-tolerant native vegetation captures rainwater, dramatically reducing stormwater runoff and easing urban drainage strain. The green roof layer also shields the roof membrane from harsh weather, helping it last significantly longer.

On top of those building benefits, we engineered a 100-module solar array using a combination of our canopy and tilt racks. This hybrid layout keeps the green roof fully functional underneath while generating 33.5 kW of clean, renewable energy to power the building's daily operations. Together, they lower operational costs and transform unused overhead square footage into a sustainable powerhouse.
