Welcome to the wonderful world of mediation and other conflict resolution alternatives that can save you time, money, prolonged stress, possible reputation risk, and, potentially, relationships. As a mediator, I act as an impartial third-party who, through the process of mediation, helps individuals and businesses find a way to reach mutually acceptable resolutions to their disputes. The beauty of
mediation is that the parties are empowered to reach agreement on their own terms rather than subject themselves to a court's decision. I care deeply about my work and will never tire of seeing parties who come to the table full of anger and resentment, each completely embedded in his/her position, ultimately come to agreement. As a conflict resolution consultant, I can provide coaching in conflict management skills, dealing with difficult people, and effective communication skills; can help facilitate difficult conversations; and provide conflict analysis. I hold a Master of Science degree in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution from Columbia University and a B.A. in Spanish (summa cm laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from Hofstra University. My mediation certification is from the New York Peace Institute, and I'm on the mediator roster of the American Arbitration Association. Additionally, I've taught courses in the Sociology of Conflict and Dispute Resolution at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Previously, I enjoyed a successful financial services career as an international banker (specializing in Latin America) and was also former SVP and head of corporate communications at IDB Bank. My services are available in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
