It's been an interesting start to 2023, and another reminder to focus on the important things. While this hasn't been a pleasant experience, it can all be fixed. We consider ourselves lucky to be safe, healthy, and able to rebuild. The recent earthquake in Turkey/Syria, with more than 20,000 lives lost, certainly puts our situation into perspective.

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the number of emails you have to get through in one day in hopes of catching up with all your work? We have, and let me tell you…it’s a terrible feeling. It makes us want to avoid my inbox altogether!

Our team at .marketing put systems in place that help us optimize our time and keep our inbox at a manageable level. Our current state of mind is that we don’t dread our inbox, but it took some tools to get us there. Here are three that we use most to optimize our time:

1. Monday.com
2. Slack
3. Zoom

We know you’ve most likely heard of these but hear us out; it doesn’t have to be revolutionary technology or an original system. It just has to do the work.

.com is a Work OS that allows us to organize our different accounts and manage our projects promptly and efficiently. Most mainstream communication is categorized under one portal; the key is customization. Each team member can set up custom notification settings and use specific placeholders to have targeted conversations. Many integrations are available, allowing each team member, depending on their access level, to catch up on progress, access specific up-to-date information, and interact all in one place. However, Monday isn’t a one system fits all tool. Each project can be set up and handled in its unique way. That management style reduces the number of email threads, snoozing, and unread clicks. Checking on one platform becomes a habit, getting quick updates and checking in throughout the day to know what’s happening.

Our fave Monday.com tip: Use the Llama farm function to track your status. A bit of breezy fun never hurts!

is another tool we use to avoid emails. Direct messaging with a specific group of people allows conversation and interaction to flow. It makes sharing documents and integrating our outcomes into other platforms easier. Slack lets us know who is online and when thanks to its availability settings. The best part yet? You can silence notifications on your days off to allow a peaceful time to regroup.

Our fave Slack tip: A picture is worth a thousand words…engage with your team using Giphys!

, which boomed during the pandemic, allows our fully remote team to stay connected and see each other face-to-screen! No need for a phone call on your personal cell phone or a fancy system to speak directly. Managing our meetings is one thing, but calling at the drop of a hat and sharing screens is practical.

Our fave Zoom tip: Surprise your coworker by utilizing VR glasses! Look out for the fun and innovative functions offered at each update.
