We're excited to announce the opening of Africa Reframed's East African HQ in Nairobi!

In line with our mission to transform perceptions and foster sustainable growth, this new office is a testament to our dedication to cross-sector partnerships and transformative visual storytelling from the African continent.

Leading the helm of daily operations is Brenda Jommo, our newly appointed Community Engagement Manager. Brenda brings a wealth of experience from her previous role as Administrator and Project Manager at the Professional Photographers Association of Kenya, an influential body in the region's photography landscape.

The Africa Reframed Academy is the educational arm of Africa Reframed. It collaborates with emerging African visual storytellers via mentorships and workshops. In this engagement, the academy jointly develops methods for capturing and communicating Africa’s stories.

These images represent the continent's progress, diversity, and innovation, serving as a tool for visual storytellers and an inspirational resource for the African Reframed Academy.

Beyond being a simple collection, the Archive engages in a dynamic interaction with stakeholders. It aligns visual narratives with their objectives, fostering an environment for collaborative change. It also facilitates the licensing and downloading of images, enabling easy access to content representing Africa's vibrant cultures, economic growth, and social development. By reinvesting the revenue generated from image licensing back into the initiative, the Archive fuels a self-sustaining cycle that stimulates growth and produces impactful content.

New Jjumba Martin/ Africa Reframed photoshoot with the sustainable startup Green Charcoal, located in Tororo – eastern Uganda

Green Charcoal Uganda is a Briquette manufacturing company with country-wide operations. Uganda depends 90% on biomass as the primary source of energy. To change this, Green Charcoal manufactures briquettes from agricultural waste like palm kernel husks, Rice husks, Coffee husks, and maize cobs to obtain an efficiently cheap source of fuel that completely replaces charcoal and firewood.

This Photoshoot is a part of our ongoing productions across Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda showcasing sustainable startups within the waste sector and is a result of the strategic partnership between BESTSELLER FOUNDATION and Africa Reframed.

Thanks to CEO Geoffrey Okoth Yoga - working in close cooperation with you to realize the photoshoot was a great experience.
