Attention Ardsley!
We have received reports that scammers are faking caller ID to impersonate the Ardsley Police Department.
Even if the scammer uses the name of a real officer, the real department phone number appears on caller ID, or they provide personal information about you- it’s most likely not a real officer calling.
Real officers will not call you to say you will be arrested or threaten to arrest you if you hang up.
Real officers will also not call to insist you pay fines by cash, gift cards, cryptocurrency etc. Especially not as a way to buy your way out of a “crime.”
If you receive a call like this, be sure to hang up and not attempt to call the number back. The Federal Trade Commission also has a page where you can report any instances.
