Do these before paying for any ads or marketing!!

When a business starts running ads before their website is optimized, before they’re showing up in Google, and before they have anything in place to capture leads…the ads are just not going to work. And google ads is probably hoping you don’t realize that 🥲

Save this post for the next time you’re tempted to boost a post or launch an ad campaign, and make sure to try these out first.

If you’ve ever looked around your website and noticed the words “we’re passionate”, then this post is for you 🫡🫡🫡

Instead of saying you’re passionate, show people what that passion looks like for you and your biz. Maybe you’ve helped hundreds of customers, carefully handcraft every order, spend hours perfecting your recipes, or obsess over the small details that most people never notice. Those are the things that build trust because they’re specific, memorable, and much harder to copy than a generic statement!!

Replacing vague buzzwords with real examples gives people a muchhhh better reason to choose your business. Save this post for your next website update 💕🤩

Spending money on ads before your business is ready can get expensive fast 😮‍💨😮‍💨 I see so many small business owners jump straight into paid advertising because they think it will magically fix slow sales, butttttt there’s so much to be done first!

Creating a free lead magnet is my number one reco, always. Instead of hoping someone buys on their first visit, give them a reason to stay connected.

Here are a few ideas that work across different industries:

• Jewelry brand: Jewelry Stacking Guide or Necklace Length Guide
• Photographer: What to Wear Guide for Family Photos
• Realtor: First Time Home Buyer’s Checklist
• Financial advisor: Retirement Readiness Checklist
• Fitness coach: 7 Day Beginner Workout Plan
• Interior designer: Living Room Design Guide

Lead magnets allow you to introduce yourself and your work, build trust, grow your email list, and give potential customers a reason to come back when they’re ready to buy.

If you’re looking for a simple way to organize your own marketing, comment planner and I’ll send you my free Small Business Marketing Planner. (😉 see what I did there?)

One of the easiest ways to make an ad more effective is to give people options.

When you saw this ad, you probably started picking your favorite bag without even thinking about it. I know I did!

Instead of convincing you to buy a bag, the ad gets you involved. Once you’re comparing different styles, you’re already imagining which one fits your life best (it’s bottom middle for me😍). That shift makes someone much more likely to click, browse, and eventually buy

This is something every ecommerce business can adopt! If your product comes in different colors, sizes, scents, or styles, don’t just feature one version, but show the variety right upfront. It helps more people picture themselves as your customer because there’s a better chance they’ll see something that feels like it was made for them.

Save this for the next time you’re building an ad, and follow Bella @ Currently for more marketing breakdowns, branding tips, and real examples of why certain ads get people to stop scrolling!

Every few months, someone claims that Instagram is “completely changing” and creators start panicking (sometimes me 🫠🫠). This time, it’s all about the supposed August Instagram update…but let’s chat!

Some new features are being tested, yes, BUT rumors have been blown out of proportion & some of the headlines making the rounds simply aren’t confirmed.

It’s worth understanding what’s actually being tested by Instagram and what it could mean for your business.

In this post, I’m breaking down:
✨ The new features Instagram is currently testing
✨ What’s still just speculation
✨ What I’d actually focus on as a business owner or content creator

If you want the full breakdown, I put together a blog post that goes into much more detail, including what these updates could mean for businesses and marketers.

👉 Read it through the link in my bio.

I love looking around and seeing all of the marketing decisions that businesses make! It’s crazy how much of it just seems “there”, but there’s actually so much thought, time, and care that goes behind every marketing decision.

My new series will bring us to different places I’ve been and the marketing lessons I’ve learned from all around me 🌸💕🌎

I’d love if you follow along for more! Up next: Montreal, Puerto Rico, NYC, Scotland, and more!

Your content doesn’t have to be perfect, it doesn’t have to even be pretty, but if people want to save it, it’s going to perform well!

Something I’ve found after years and years of dissecting posts and trying to figure out which works and why, is the posts that consistently perform well are usually the ones people want to save or reference later.

These extra shares and saves tell the algorithm that your content is valuable, which pushes it out to even more users. Here are some ideas for different niches below, and drop a comment if you want specific ideas for your particular niche!

☕ Coffee Shop
Try: “5 coffee orders every first-time matcha drinker should try.”
People will save it for their next coffee run.

🛍️ Boutique
Try: “5 outfits you can recreate with one pair of white jeans.”
People alwaaaays save outfit inspiration (me especially🥲)

💇‍♀️ Hair Stylist
Try: “The biggest mistakes people make after coloring their hair.”
Clients save it so they can refer back to it later.

🏡 Real Estate Agent
Try: “7 things to check before making an offer on a house.”
Future homebuyers save it until they’re ready.

⚖️ Law Firm
Try: “The most important part of updating your will.”
Something people are likely to come back to when the time is right.

One word can *completely* change how customers perceive your business!

When you call yourself affordable, you’re asking customers to focus on price.

But when you talk about quality, value, or long lasting products, you give people a reason tochoose you beyond being the cheapest option. (we would all be shopping exclusively at the dollar store if price was the only factor!)

Most customers aren’t actually looking for the lowest price, we generally look for the best value instead. Think about how good that feeling is when you score an amazing deal or get a coupon code to finally work 😂

Whether you’re updating your website, writing product descriptions, refreshing your homepage, or creating Instagram captions, the words you choose influence how people perceive your brand before they ever become a customer.

Save this for your next website update!

I don’t even have a trip to Italy planned… but this ad still had me picturing one 😂

Premium Sustainable Recycled Nylon Bags wanted to sell the feeling of wandering through sunny streets, stopping at cafés and grabbing a spritz, and living your best Euro Summer, which is something everyone can get excited about, even when they don’t *neeeed* another bag.

People rarely buy products only because of the product alone...they buy the lifestyle, identity, or emotion that they associate with it.

As a small business owner, ask yourself:

✨ Are you showing what you sell?
Or are you showing how your customer wants to feel after they buy it?

Whether you’re creating social media content, designing a website, writing product descriptions, or running ads, remember that people connect with stories before they connect with features!

Have you ever bought something because you loved the feeling the brand sold? Tell me what it was. 👇
