A talented photographer with the benefit of formal training, David Luftig shoots stunning portraits and events, and provides artful editing and manipulation in the restoration of old family photos. After all kinds of useful study including theatrical lighting design, neon design, industrial design and a stint in Hollywood, he called a professional photographer friend and asked how to be an assista
nt. He was told to report on Monday! Six intense months later, he decided to continue formal training by attending “The Germain School of Photography.”
He has been shooting professionally ever since, from weddings, world leaders (three so far) to dogs, cats and even a Rolls-Royce catalogue for a dealer in Greenwich, Connecticut. When Photoshop and digital photography were invented, David went from being a photographer to an image-maker. He now has a sub-specialty in restoring family photographs – which he loves to do. David had one previous show at the Carlyle Hotel featuring The Gates in very large 180-degree panoramas – up to 12 feet long and 24 inches high – two of which are slated to be in this show.
