After a three-year pause, I’m excited to bring back Leadership in Design, a United Colors of Design event presented in partnership with AIGA Dallas CreativeMornings/Dallas & DSVC

Join us for an evening with Nermin Moufti, cofounder and design director of Field of Practice, as we explore leadership, creativity, and what it means to lead in the design profession today.

Designers, creative leaders, students, and anyone interested in the intersection of design and leadership, we’d love to see you there.

United Colors of Design launched our campaign to help bring Design Intersect Baltimore to life on October 10, 2026.

Our goal is to raise $3,000 to cover essential event costs as we bring together designers, artists, students, and creative professionals for a day of learning, collaboration, and meaningful connection.

You’re helping us create the space where the connection happens.

Back the campaign, share it with your network, and help us continue building a more connected creative community.

Today I was thinking back to 2022, when I was writing a bunch of poetry and performing it whenever I had the opportunity. This piece, titled “The Youth,” was written in particular about Muslim teenagers but tells the tale of the youth in general. Fathers and mothers, let me know if you can relate.

Glossary:
Eman = Faith
Shayateen = Devils
Deen = Way of Life (religion)
Shayton = The Devil

“Sweet Watermelon” - Spoken word poetry

They claim self defense against the defenseless
Over 30 thousand martyred and counting
A relentless Act of aggression
Quite now, congress is in session
About to pass new legislation
To keep the apartheid state of
Hate and segregation
alive and kicking
They’re torturing, evicting and killing
men, women and children
In a land of sweet watermelons and Olive oil
My heart boil over
A land confiscated
generation after generation hated
Because they want swift evacuation of the occupation
A total of $300 billion has been given from the beginning
To keep fueling that army with bombs, weapons and am******on
The Gaza Strip has been blasted into rubble
They’ve been causing trouble
For more than 75 years
They love to shed blood, while mothers shed tears for their beloved
There is no justification for their annihilation
And with all the turmoil and loss
They’re hearts aching but faith remains unshaken
The ultimate test of patience
One day the tyranny, lying and conniving will end
A new life of peace will begin
A tipping of the scales where justice prevails
A promise from the all merciful and divine
And freedom will reign upon the land and people of Palestine.

A little over two months ago, I completed my executive MBA at . About a week before our final session, one of our instructors and executive coaches, Kate Williams, asked me if I would like to present a spoken word piece to my cohorts—something that captured my feelings about the program over the past year. I agreed. I titled it “The Last Day.”

A special thanks to .aus.b for recording the performance. Once again, I appreciate all my classmates, instructors, executive coaches, advisors, and the Future London Academy staff for their motivation and inspiration throughout the past year. 💛
