Covid dating is a serious challenge but we have some good advice for you! Stay tuned for our upcoming workshop on this very topic. In the meantime, here are some tips:

1. If you’re on line and the texting is good, suggest a phone call.

2. Once you’ve connected via phone and you’re still both interested, set up a FaceTime or Zoom call. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a date, but connecting with video is a great way to get to know someone. Seeing facial expressions and mannerisms can give you a good sense of who they really are and whether you want to pursue talking.

3. If the call goes well, suggest another call, maybe a Zoom or FT drink one evening. Continue your conversations. Get dressed in something other than sweats! This can be a good distraction from the day to day monotony many of us experience.

Take advantage of this time to really get to know a prospect. Having a virtual connection can be fulfilling. We all want to feel connected and special, and we need to nurture this part of ourselves, especially right now.

As things go back to a new normal, we expect at some point you will be able to go out and meet your virtual dates! And by then you’ll have a good sense of them. We can never account for chemistry, but video dating can be surprisingly real and intimate.

More later! Stay safe!

Swimming in open water on a choppy day isn’t for the faint of heart. But we pushed ourselves and did it, because that’s what we set out to do. It’s a metaphor for life and dating: go forward and take the plunge: if you want to meet someone, don’t wait for them to come to you. Whether you’re on a dating app or being set up by friends, keep putting yourself out there to meet people. In the end it will pay off. You’ll begin to understand what you like and want in a relationship. Fall is coming and it’s a great time to start dating again!

Pure wow’s article on gatsbying, the new dating trend, is less about dating and more about posing. Is this what on line dating and social media have done to our younger generation of millennials? Does everything about our lives have to be documented and curated, as if we are all tuning in to our own reality shows? Getting to know someone takes patience and effort. There is a place and time for wooing and creating special evenings but not until we actually stop looking at our phones and start really connecting. At susan rose matchmaker we believe in picking up the phone, calling people before you meet or to stay in touch. Text less, reach out more via phone and real conversation. It’s hard to always make the time to see people at the beginning of a relationship or when dating, so call! Or meet up. If you want something real be real!

At times we get so wrapped up in our day to day lives we forget to come out of ourselves and reach out. Whether that’s giving advice to a colleague or just calling up a friend to ask how they’re doing, these small acts of kindness can help connect us to the things that are important. The same goes with dating: finding a relevant connection to a date that goes beyond the superficial not only can make us feel good but it also may enrich our lives even if we don’t end up dating thar person. Maintaining positive ties to people we meet may benefit us down the road. People know people and we’ve heard it more than once that a date who becomes a friend may later have another friend who is the right match for us! Rather than cutting off connections, try and keep and expand them. The more people we meet the greater the chance we meet our match!

Congratulations to all the Boston marathon participants! For the rest of us active people, Monday is usually an “off day,” a day to rest. Similarly, it’s okay to take a break from dating if you’re feeling dating fatigue or burn out; do something else for a few days to take a much needed break. Cramming lots of dates or even social events into your week can make you feel stressed and like you’re on a constant treadmill going nowhere. Sometimes a quiet dinner at home, a movie, or getting lost in a good book can help you recharge. Just remember to get back out there so you don’t lose your momentum. You can do it!

We can't always make our goals, but today Julie did! 1:46:16 at the half and Julie qualified for the nyc 2019 marathon. Dating goals can also be acheived with the right game plan and focus. Even when we think we are successfully dating, it still takes work to keep the momentum going. Do something kind for the person you're dating: a nice text in the middle of the day especially if you usually don't text at work, or flowers or some small present that shows you care. Little gestures can have a huge impact!
