I want to show you what actually goes into making our 1930s-inspired silk fan dress.
Normally, a pattern like this is done with a more structured yarn. But I specifically wanted the softness and drape that only 100% natural silk can give you.
The challenge here isn’t the material—silk actually holds its shape incredibly well. The real challenge is the pattern itself. It creates the illusion of expanding while using the exact same stitch over and over. To pull that off with a soft fiber like silk, the hand tension has to be insanely precise. Every single fan motif has to look exactly like the one before it and the one after it.
The best part about this level of craftsmanship is the versatility. This isn’t just a bridal piece. Because it’s breathable, 100% natural silk, it’s exactly what you want to wear out for cocktails or just to look effortlessly chic when it’s warm outside.
When you swipe through and look at the drape and the details, there is no faking it. It’s just hours of real human hands getting the tension exactly right.

This past Sunday at Runway in Bloom, we had the honor of showcasing pieces that hold a very special place in our studio—silhouettes originally developed for Oscar de la Renta

In an industry that often looks for shortcuts, it is a profound privilege to work with a house that prioritizes uncompromising quality of materials and craft, champions the value of “Made in USA,” and deeply supports independent artisans.

Crucially, the event itself was a powerful platform to raise funds to ensure fair pay for the hair and makeup team of Texas Fashion Week. It also provided a vital space for emerging photographers, videographers, and models to grow and showcase their work.

We selected these specific pieces from our work archives to fit the bridal theme of the show, but more importantly, to highlight what it looks like when design and craft meet at the highest level. We wanted to show this next generation of talent exactly what is possible and to show what Texas artisans are working on every day.

These specific pieces have lived quietly in our studio for years. For “Runway in Bloom,” we are finally bringing them out to celebrate the unmatched craftsmanship of our Texas artisans up close.

I’m so excited for you to see this in person. I hope it changes how you look at the world of handmade knitwear—it truly is far beyond what we usually imagine is possible.

There are no shortcuts in this room.

When you watch our sample makers work together, it looks effortless. But this level of synchrony is incredibly hard-earned. It takes 1.5 to 2 years of daily, intensive training to master the exact physics of tension and drape required in this atelier. For our external artisans, it takes 5 years to reach this exact same uncompromising standard.

True luxury isn’t just the final garment—it is the mastery of time, and the incredible women who dedicate themselves to it.

The anatomy of the foundation.

In this atelier, we do not cut shapes from pre-existing materials. We build the structure itself, from the void up.

Every single loop you see is a microscopic, load-bearing pillar that will eventually hold the weight and the gravity of the final silhouette. Before you can engineer the drape, you must master the tension. Small, invisible disciplines creating undeniable architecture.
