The PERM labor certification process has resumed as of October 31, 2025, following a temporary shutdown from October 1 to October 30, 2025. Consequently, employers and applicants can now proceed with submitting new applications, receiving decisions on pending cases, and continuing with related filings. Furthermore, the Department of Labor (DOL) has announced accommodations, including a 33-day automatic filing extension for cases with recruitment or deadlines that lapsed during the shutdown period.

Criminal convictions can permanently bar you from entering the United States. Even minor offenses can trigger visa denials. Consular officers have access to your criminal background and will discover past violations or arrests. Tell the truth on your application and in your interview – lying can get you banned.

Visit https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov to view and print your official admission record and ensure you’re following U.S. law by departing before your authorized stay expires.
