We just returned from our San Francisco trip and one thing I dread about traveling in general is unpacking....ugh. 😩⁣
⁣
I’m not proud of this but I’ve gone as long as 2-3 weeks before unpacking my entire suitcase. 🧳 ⁣
⁣
And I seem to lose several things after each trip..iPad, fingernail clippers, handheld mirror, sunglasses, beach hat, yoga pants, camera, flip flops, etc. Does this happen to anyone else? 🕶 🧢 👖 🥿 📷 ⁣
⁣
I haven’t unpacked after this trip yet, but I’m afraid to see what goes missing this time. 🥴 Wish me luck! ☘️ ⁣

We generally take direct flights 95% of the time. But for our latest trip this week to San Francisco, there was a connection. Although we were allowed 2 free checked bags, we didn’t want to risk our bags getting lost because we were not staying in San Francisco the entire time, and couldn’t risk our luggage being lost. ⁣
⁣
We’ve experienced lost luggage once, but luckily it was on our return flight home so our trip was already over and we were home sweet home. Had we had lost luggage at the start of our trip, that would’ve put a damper on our vacation. Ultimately, they were able to locate our luggage and returned to us in a few hours. Yay! 😁 ⁣

This was our very first time actually carrying on our stuff and we kinda like it! All 5 of us had our own backpack (each kid packed their clothes in a packing cube which they carried in their backpack), 3 carryon suitcases, 1 camera bag, and 1 personal bag. Each person is allowed 2 carryon items on SWA; backpack and carryon suitcase for example). 🎒 🧳 ⁣
⁣
We didn’t have to get in line to check-in our bags, and we didn’t have to go to baggage claim when we landed. So much time saved! ⁣

Today is the first day of summer break for my kids. They definitely took advantage of that and slept in. 😴 💤 ⁣

One thing I love about summer is spending more time as a family, traveling and just hanging out. 👫👨‍👩‍👧⁣

We have a few adventures and trips lined up for the summer and can’t wait to share pictures when we return. 📸 ⁣

Travel Tip: Explorer Pass offers great discount and flexibility for your tourist activities. ⁣

Big cities have so much to offer in terms of what to do and where to go. Sometimes, too many options. But that’s never a bad thing, narrowing it down based on how much time you have is the hard part. ⁣
⁣
We used the Explorer Pass in NYC (for 3 activities) and used it for the following: ⁣
⁣
1.) Statue of Liberty⁣
2.) Hop on/off bus for a day⁣
3.) Empire State Building (skipped long line to buy tickets)⁣
⁣
I compared the cost if purchased separately and the Explorer Pass in NYC was a no brained for the activities we wanted to explore, cheaper and easy to use. ⁣
⁣
It’s in the form of a credit card size card and the card gets scanned each time you use it. ⁣
⁣
The nice thing with the Explorer Pass is that you don’t have to specify which activities you plan to use it ahead of time. There’s a long list of excursions/activities that are included, you just need to determine how many activities you want to purchase. ⁣

There’s so many thing to see and do in NYC. ⁣
⁣
We tried 3 different methods of getting around: ⁣
1.) drive our car ⁣
2.) Uber ⁣
3.) hop on/off bus. ⁣
⁣
By far, our favorite was the hop on/off bus. It was so very relaxing to just sit on the top deck and listen to the tour guide providing interesting facts about the city. 🚎 ⁣
⁣
On the lower deck, it’s air-conditioned but the weather was perfect in early October and you get a much better view on top. ☀️ ⁣
⁣
The worse method for us was driving in the city. Worse traffic I’ve ever encountered....even at midnight on a Wednesday night. 😫 (And I thought Chicago had bad traffic, not compared to NYC). And parking fees are crazy expensive. 🚥⁣
⁣
We used Big Bus as one of our attractions for something similar to Citypass. Can’t remember the name right now but I’ll write about it next week’s Travel Tip Tuesday because it was such a great deal and easy to use. Hopefully I’ll remember the name by then. Ha! ⁣

Citypass also saves you research time. Instead of trying to figure out what to do, Citypass lists activities it offers so you can just purchase and go. 🚶‍♀️ ⁣
