Did you know that the Association of Black Social Workers-NYC Chapter has an Older Adult Center?

New York City is home to roughly 1.8 million older adults (ages 60+). The Older Adult Centers provide a free space for members of our community to receive a nutritious daily meal, engage in classes and activities, be immersed in community, and be connected to resources and social services.

What began as a personal outlet evolved into a purpose-driven platform dedicated to helping individuals find their voice, heal, and reclaim their narratives. Rooted in strength-based and trauma-informed principles, ISET creates safe, empowering spaces where authenticity is not only welcomed but celebrated.

Their mission is to empower individuals—youth and adults, to embrace their truth, build self-esteem, and communicate with confidence through creative expression, education, and community engagement.

The Xi Phi Omega Black College Tour (OBCT) is more than a college tour — it’s a life-changing experience. ✨

Since 1986, OBCT has empowered high school students by exposing them to the excellence, culture, and legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Founded by educator John L. Staton, the program was created to challenge misconceptions about HBCUs and inspire students to dream bigger.

Through immersive campus visits, leadership development workshops, and financial aid education, students gain firsthand exposure to college life while building confidence in their future. More than 1,500 students have participated in the tour, stepping beyond their comfort zones and discovering what’s possible for their lives.

OBCT is committed to helping students understand that their background does not define their future — greatness is within reach. 🎓🖤

Erika Lucille Ewing is an artivist, consultant, speaker, and cultural architect whose work lives at the intersection of art, activism, and civic life. A proud Smith College alumna and MFA graduate of Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, she has spent 25 years building movements, institutions, and programs that use creativity as a tool for justice. Meet Monique Bryce, LCSW — a dedicated clinical social worker with 15+ years of experience in medical social work, emergency care, psychotherapy, and veteran advocacy. With expertise in trauma-informed care, domestic violence, human trafficking, and mental health treatment, Monique has served in leading institutions including the Bronx VA, Lincoln Hospital, and Queens Hospital. Passionate about compassionate, patient-centered care and mentoring future social workers, she now steps into her new role as MST Program Coordinator, continuing her mission to empower and support those she serves.

Monique completed her Master’s in Social Work at Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work, following a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Norfolk.
