Close your eyes for a second. (After you finish reading this. 😊)

Imagine waking up tomorrow and seeing a new donor notification on your phone.
You didn't send an email. You didn't host an event. You weren't even at your desk.
Your website did it β€” because it was built to.

That's not a fantasy. That's what's possible when your website is designed around your audience, built with the right message, and optimized to convert visitors into supporters.

Swipe to see what the before and after really looks like for nonprofit leaders who make this shift. ➑️

Here's a number that most nonprofit websites have never calculated β€” but one that can completely transform how you approach fundraising:

Your conversion rate.

It tells you exactly how effective your website is at turning visitors into donors. And once you know it, you can work backwards to set smarter fundraising goals.

Swipe to see how to calculate yours β€” and what to do with the number. ➑️

If you're not measuring your website's performance, you're making decisions based on gut feelings instead of data.

And in nonprofit marketing, that gap can cost you thousands in missed donations.

Here are the four website metrics I recommend every nonprofit leader review regularly:

β†’ Sessions β€” How many times people accessed your site.
β†’ Unique sessions β€” A closer approximation of how many individual people visited.
β†’ New vs. returning visitors β€” Are you reaching new people, or only your existing community?
β†’ User acquisition β€” How did they find you? Organic search, social, direct, or referral?

These four numbers tell a story. And once you understand that story, you can improve it.

Not tracking yet? Google Analytics is free and is the industry standard. There are simple setup guides for every website platform.

Which of these metrics are you already tracking? Tell me below πŸ‘‡

After years of working with nonprofits on their marketing, I kept seeing the same thing: organizations doing incredible work in their communities β€” with websites that weren't raising a dollar.
Not because the mission wasn't compelling. Because no one ever showed them how to build a website around their audience instead of their org chart.
I've put together a course that walks you through my exact 5-step framework for turning your nonprofit website into a 24/7 fundraiser β€” attracting donors and volunteers even when you're not in the room.
This first cohort is going to be small and intimate. I want to work closely with every leader in the group.

Your next donor is Googling something right now.

The question is: will they find you?

Search engine optimization (SEO) sounds intimidating, but for nonprofits it really comes down to one thing: creating content that answers the questions your audience is already asking.

Here's something every nonprofit leader should know:

There are only two ways to get people to visit your website.
Content. And ads.

Ads require budget. Content requires consistency.

The good news is that content-driven traffic β€” through blogging, SEO, and email β€” is completely free aside from your time. And when done right, it compounds over time, bringing new donors and volunteers to your site long after you hit publish.

The key? Publishing consistently. Once a month won't cut it in today's fast-moving digital landscape.

My recommendation: publish one piece of long-form content per week β€” a blog post, podcast episode, or video. Then email your list a teaser to bring them back to your site.

It sounds like a lot, but with the right system it's completely manageable β€” even for a small team.

Tomorrow I'm sharing how to figure out exactly what to write about. Follow so you don't miss it. πŸ‘‡

Two more modules down. Here’s what we covered this week:

Step 2 β€” Craft Your Message:
β†’ Words drive action. Design builds trust.
β†’ The AAIM framework (Audience, Action, Intent, Message) gives every page a purpose.
β†’ Great copy speaks to your visitor’s needs, affirms their identity, and empowers them to act.

Step 3 β€” Design Your Website:
β†’ You have 7 seconds to earn a visitor’s trust before they leave.
β†’ Accessibility isn’t optional β€” check your contrast ratios.
β†’ Good design fades into the background. Bad design erodes everything.

Message + design = a website people trust and act on.

Next week we get into my favorite topic: how to actually get people to your website β€” for free.

SEO, content strategy, and the simple math that will help you hit your fundraising goals.

What did you learn and why are you going to implement? πŸ‘‡

An estimated 300 million people worldwide experience some form of color blindness. Billions more need vision correction.

If your website uses low-contrast colors, a significant portion of your potential donors and volunteers may not be able to read it.

The good news: there's a free tool that checks this in minutes. Swipe to see how. ➑️

Did your site pass? Let me know in the comments πŸ‘‡

You have about 7 seconds before a visitor decides whether to trust your nonprofit β€” or leave.

In that moment, they're not reading your mission statement. They're feeling your design.

Good design doesn't mean flashy. It means clear, consistent, and credible. It creates trust before a single word is read.

Bad design β€” even unintentionally β€” communicates something damaging: that your organization isn't professional, isn't current, or isn't worthy of their donation.

A few of the biggest design mistakes I see on nonprofit sites:
β†’ Low contrast text that's hard to read
β†’ Crowded pages with no visual breathing room
β†’ Inconsistent fonts and colors that feel chaotic
β†’ Stock photos that don't reflect your real community

None of these are hard to fix β€” but they all matter enormously.

Tomorrow I'm sharing a quick accessibility check you can run on your site right now. Follow so you don't miss it. πŸ‘‡

Every page on your nonprofit website needs four things to work β€” and most sites are missing at least two of them.

This is the AAIM framework, and it's the foundation I use to write website copy that actually converts visitors into donors and volunteers.

Swipe to see how it works β€” and how to apply it to your own site. ➑️
