The Seahawks didn’t just have the right plays or players. They focused maniacally on culture over multiple years and across two different head coaches. This “hedgehog” approach won them the championship. It’s a lesson for companies that don’t include culture building in their strategies.

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald managed to build on the culture the team had before his arrival while adding new ideas of his own.

Employer plans have played out like a game of chicken. Now workers are rebelling outright, and executives are trying everything to make the office worth it.
