PhoenixFire Founder and Chief Strategist, Lee Domaszowec, is stepping back from the consultancy to join a support mission in Ukraine.
Lee was was officially banned from entering the Russian Federation on March 14, 2024 because of his professional and humanitarian work supporting Ukraine.
His departure is a planned transition that has been in the works since mid-June, includes the permanent expansion in Spain, and will conclude at the end of August.
He will continue to support the team in completing existing projects until then.
Everything we do will continue to perform at the same level of quality as people have come to expect from PhoenixFire. Our team spans 3 continents, carries more than 100 years of combined nonprofit and fundraising experience, and has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for the organizations we’ve served.
If you follow PhoenixFire, or are part of the PhoenixFire SPARK Community, you already know the names and credentials of the rest of our team.
One consistent challenge nonprofits and entrepreneurs face is the “key person risk,” or an organization's heavy reliance on a single individual for critical operations, knowledge, or decisions. Succession only works when it's designed while the leader is still in the building to design it. Most organizations only write the plan after they need it. Make sure that your organization can survive and thrive even when a Founder takes time off or leaves.
A step we have taken to ensure continuous operation is to record and codify almost every meeting we’ve had for more than a year. Using AI to assist us, we’ve accumulated Lee’s industry knowledge so that it continues to complement the rest of the team’s expertise.
Lee has led this company for a decade. He built something that keeps working when he's not reachable, which is the hardest thing a founder can do and the rarest thing to find.
Due to the sensitive nature of where Lee is headed in Ukraine, we can't share more.
The PhoenixFire team thanks Lee for his leadership and vision, and wishes him wellness and success in his mission to Ukraine, and his safe return.
Go safely, Lee, come home, and Slava Ukraini.
