Étude Arts celebrates Kálmán Péter bass-baritone who returns to the Wiener Staatsoper tonight for the first of two engagements this season, bowing as Sulpice in Donizetti’s fanciful La fille du régiment, with further performances through November 13. Full of brisk military marches and lilting melodies, Laurent Pelly’s celebrated production of La fille du régiment has been staged by leading opera houses around the world. The Hungarian bass-baritone, who will have bowed as Sulpice in the production in Vienna and at the Metropolitan Opera, brings his gift for Buffo opera and his rich vocal presence to this belovedly bumbling role. Étude Arts celebrates Nika as they make a much-anticipated debut with Ars Lyrica Houston in “Haunted Spirits,” a devilish stew of mad scenes and eerie instrumental music from Henry Purcell through C. P. E. Bach. Come in costume to experience the scary sounds of Rebel’s Les Élémens, which begins in “Chaos,” or the hysteria of Dejanira’s meltdown at the end of Handel’s Hercules. This sold-out performance takes place at the Hobby Center. TOI TOI TOI!!!

Étude Arts celebrates Jordan de Souza who makes a highly anticipated debut at Den Norske Opera & Ballett in a new production of Puccini’s La bohème, directed by R.B. Schlather. Marcello’s Parisian maisonette and Café Momus come to life in the Norwegian capital as beloved melodies and “operatic” emotions sweep us through this most iconic of Italian operas. Performances continue through January 16, 2027. TOI TOI TOI!!!

Étude Arts celebrates mezzo-soprano Ema Nikolovska who is joined by the great Scottish guitarist Sean Shibe tonight at The 92nd Street Y, New York to launch a 20-day North American tour. Together, these two probing artists emerge as troubadours of Poetry in Song, carrying their program to leading venues in New York, Toronto, Berkeley, Vancouver, Ottawa, and many more across the United States and Canada. Their journey follows Orlando through all his, her, and their adventures, uncovering who they truly are. It traces the non-linear journey between Orlando’s many iterations across disparate times, genders, and media, drawing inspiration from the medieval Chanson de Roland, Ariosto’s celebrated epic, and Virginia Woolf’s 1928 novel. Along the way, the artists and Orlando venture into fantastical worlds and meet the great adventures of life: love, conflict, and the search for one’s own identity. TOI TOI TOI!!!

Étude Arts celebrates Joseph Tancredi who makes a SEATTLE OPERA debut as Narraboth in Salome with performances through October 31. With the Seattle Symphony in the pit and Bruno Ravella directing, Strauss’s 1905 score proves that scandal, like a good tenor, only improves with age.
