Leaders are Eagles

Eagles symbolize strength and courage 💪🏽

A man found an eagle’s egg and put it in a nest of a barnyard hen. The eaglet hatched with the brood of chicks and grew up with them.

All his life, the eagle did what the barnyard chicks did, thinking he was a barnyard chicken.

He scratched the earth for worms and insects. He clucked and cackled. And he would thrash his wings and fly a few feet into the air. Years passed, and the eagle grew very old.

One day, he saw a magnificent bird above him in the cloudless sky. It glided in graceful majesty among the powerful wind currents, with scarcely a beat on his strong golden wings.

The old eagle looked up in awe. “Who’s that?” he asked.

“That’s the eagle, the king of the birds,” said his neighbor. “He belongs to the sky. We belong to the earth – we’re chickens.”

So the eagle lived and died a chicken, for that’s what he thought he was.

Moral of the Story: Stop wasting time around people who do not support and/or nurture your dreams.

Leaders Must Bring their "A+" Game

When leaders are set up to fail, leaders do not have the option to bring their "A" game. These leaders must bring their "A+" game 💯

In the Netflix movie The Triple Eight, Commanding Officer Major Charity Adams accepted a leadership role that came with no support from her organization. Some may argue that the organization wanted Major Adams to fail. Nonetheless, with detailed strategic planning and implementation, Major Adams far exceeded everyone's expectations for the betterment of the organization.

Leaders Model Good Behavior

As leaders, we must ask ourselves, do I model good behavior 😇 or toxic behavior 😡🤬 for my staff? And, if your behavior is toxic, who else's behavior may be toxic 🤔

The toxic behavior that leaders model is sometimes the same toxic behavior that leaders have to address within the organization.

In the Netflix movie The Deliverance, the mother and grandmother constantly address the children's toxic behavior. As the movie progresses, viewers learn who really displayed toxic behavior.

Leaders are Voters

LIFT EVERY VOICE AND VOTE 📣

Today, I cast my vote for the November 5th elections 🗳

A few days ago, I had the opportunity to view the premiere of Dear America, which is a documentary produced by Shennell Barnes CEO of Project Ready NJ . Danielle West and other panelists engaged attendees in a discussion in a conversation regarding Black women voters.

So often, politicians seek Black women voters during campaign season but negate Black women voters during the development and implementation of policies that greatly impact Black women voters 🤨 Its not just about voter registration and voter engagement, it's about holding elected officials accountable.

Today, I was blessed to attend our church's Missionary Ministry Prayer Breakfast

Rev. Dr. Donna Beck gave the word "It Aint About You, Boo' ".

As leaders, we are missionaries who serve for the betterment of others. We are to lead with humility and selflessness. Leadership is not about you 🤨

In the movie The American Society of Magical Negroes 🎩 🪄 the main character Aren learns to use his voice. At work, Aren shared his opinions on the mistreatment of workers within the workplace. As a result, Aren incurred consequences. Nonetheless, in Aren's opinion, learning to use his voice was more valuable than the consequences. ⚖️
